GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS

1. Composition of teams
A. Each player should be a member of Youth for Christ.
B. Each team shall have a team captain and can have their liberos.
C. Each team must have fourteen (14) players in each division.
D. The team must register via google form until _________
● Filling in of players on the day of the event must be limited to 3 players only
and each must meet the requirements mentioned in letters A.

2. Eligibility
- The Sports Committee assumes responsibility for the investigation of
eligibility for all participants upon request. A copy of the Birth Certificate or
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will be required during all SYA Sports
activities.
- Any individual the Competitive Sports staff deems to be ineligible will not be
allowed to participate.
- Submit your team gallery to the officials table.

3. Facility
- Games will be played at __________________

Note: The players must be at the game area thirty (30) minutes to get to your games
ahead of schedule. Remember all team members must be signed in and ready to play to
avoid a forfeit.

4. Equipment
A. Each team is encouraged to bring a volleyball to warm up, although some
volleyballs will be available for use. The Committee will supply a game ball for
each contest.
B. All jewelry of any type must be removed.
C. Head decorations, headwear, billed hats and bandannas are illegal. Only elastic
headbands and hair control devices are permitted.

5. Sportsmanship
All participants (coaches, Asst. Coaches, Trainers, Medical Doctor, Trainers. Officiating
officials and players must:
A. Know the “Official Volleyball Rules” and abide by them.
B. Accept referees' decisions with sportsmanlike conduct, without disputing them.
C. Refrain from actions or attitudes aimed at influencing the decisions of the referees
or covering up the faults committed by their team.
D. Players are obligated to shake hands with the referee after the match as a gesture
of friendship and sportsmanship.

6. Match
A. The match shall be played between two teams of six (6) players each.
B. A minimum of six (6) players are required to avoid a default or forfeit.
C. If a team does not have six (6) players signed in and ready to play game time, they
will receive a forfeit or a default.
D. Matches will be a best two-out-of-three set to determine a winner.
E. Shall be played in a 2 pool single round-robin.
F. Toss coin will determine honors for serve and the loser of the toss coin will choose
their side of the court.

7. Scoring
A. A 3-minute warm-up period will be allowed prior to the scheduled start time of
each match.
B. Rally point scoring will be used for all games. This means every time there is a
serve, there will be a point to win for either team.
C. Games will be played 2 out of 3 sets.
D. Each set will be played to 21 points for elimination games and raised to 25 for the
Finals. A team must win a minimum of 2 points ahead of the other team. The third
set will be played to 15 points.
E. Teams will switch serve after the serving team loses the point. Once that team wins
the serve back, they will rotate positions clockwise.
F. Ranking order and breaking of ties.
- Tie involving two (2) teams – the principle of win-over the other shall apply.
- Multiple tie : point system
Sets won:
2-0 (3 points for the winner & no points for the loser)
2-1 (2 points for the winner & 1 point for the loser)

8. Gameplay Rules

1. The volleyball competition shall be held in accordance with the current


rules and regulations of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF).
However, in matters not provided for in the rules of the competition,
decisions shall rest with the Tournament Director.
2. In any dispute, only the official coach or team captain is allowed to
approach matchcontrol with regards to questions and inquiries.

9. Competition Uniform
A. Teams are not required but are encouraged to have uniform jerseys and they
should have recognizable numbers for officiating purposes.
B. Players should wear proper playing attire.
10. DEFAULT AND INCOMPLETE TEAM
● If a team refuses to play after being summoned to do so, it is declared in default
and forfeits the match with the result 0-3 for the match and 0-25 for each set.
● A team that, without justifiable reason, does not appear on the playing court on
time is declared in default with the same result as in the rule above.
● A team that is declared INCOMPLETE for the set or for the match loses the set or the
match. The opponent team is given the points, or the points and the sets, needed
to win the set or the match. The incomplete team keeps its points and sets.
● If the team doesn’t have six (6) players to play, they will be given ten (10) minutes
to complete their players. If they fail to do so, it will be declared a win for the
opposing team
