The Importance of Continuing Education: Why Grade 12 Students Should

Pursue College
Nelson Mandela was right when be stated "Education is the most powerful weapon to
change the world," Yes, the solution to any issue lies in Education .Education is
essential if you want to progress and succeed. A pleasant morning/afternoon
everyone, I am Alfredo Ypil Baguio and today we will talk about the importance of
continuing your studies in college. In this topic , I would like to encourage you
especially the Grade 12 students where some are hesitant to retained in college.

The failure to continue studying in college is one of the reason why 2.37 million
approximately Filipinos are unemployed in the year of 2023 according to the
Philippine Statistic Authority. However, There are many laws that are mandated to
address this issue, like the RA 10981 which we will discuss later. College is not just
about academic learning; it is also a platform to acquire essential life skills. Students
develop strong communication and interpersonal skills through collaborations,
presentations, and group projects. They are exposed to a diverse community of peers
from various backgrounds, learning how to interact with people from different cultures
and perspectives. After my research about this certain topic, I learned three important
things why pursuing college is very crucial. First, we must put in our mindset that
retaining in college is a step to success even were struggling financially. We can't deny
that poverty is one of the main problem why some student failed going on to college.
However,we must also keep in mind that education is free. According to the Republic
Act 10981,otherwise known as "The Universal Access to a Quality Tertiary Education
Act" Signed by President Duterte on 03 August 2017,it is an act promoting universal
access to quality tertiary Education by providing tuition and other school fees in
States and local colleges and universities. Second, education is one thing that no one
can take away from you. Continuing education in college provides Grade 12 students
with a unique opportunity for personal growth. Moreover, the college experience helps
students mature socially by fostering independence, self-discipline, and time
management skills. Lastly , we must always remember that education is a primary
ticket towards a successful future, pursuing higher education beyond Grade 12 opens
up a world of opportunities for career advancement. These three lesson will be our
shield throughout our journey in college.

Taking everything into account, Grade 12 students should strongly consider

continuing their studies in college due to the significant benefits it offers. Not only
does college provide a conducive environment for personal growth and development,
but it also enhances career prospects and equips individuals with essential life skills.
By investing in further education, Grade 12 students are positioning themselves for a
brighter future filled with increased opportunities and personal fulfillment.Vice Ganda
once said "Through education, we receive light ,and with that light,we receive
hope ,and with that hope, we pursue our dreams,and through that dreams ,we fore
see our brightest future. Thank you!
