WHY MALAYSIA?

participants and attendees from across the continent.

Malaysia’s multicultural environment promises a rich cultural experience,
with diverse traditions and cuisines to explore. Language barrier is
practically non-existent as English is widely spoken, also Chinese and
Malay.

provide opportunities for participants to enjoy beyond the competition.
Also, Malaysia is recognized as one of the world’s friendliest nations.

Strong support from Malaysian authorities underlines the nation’s
commitment to the success of the Asian Championship 2024.
VISA APPLICATION

Simple Process
Generally, many Asian countries have visa-free or visa-on-arrival
arrangements with Malaysia for short tourist visits (shorter than 90 days).
Only 18 countries Worldwide need to apply a Visa to enter Malaysia which
include: Bangladesh, Brunei, China, Colombia, India, Myanmar, Nepal,
Pakistan ,Peru, United Kingdom and etc.

Further, in view of the recent news, the Malaysian Government will


introduce the Malaysia Visa Liberalisation Plan for year 2024. This plan
aims to improve visa on arrival facilities, social visit passes and multiple
entry visa offers which will encourage the entry of tourists and investors,
especially from India and China.

PROPOSAL

Host City:
Kuala Lumpur

Proposed Dates:
End of December 2024 ( 26.12.2023 - 29.12.2024)
This is the best time for Asian countries as schools will be on break for
Christmas and getting ready for the new year. Competitors have their last
chance to break their own records before the end of 2024.

Number of Days of the Competition:


Four (4) days with multiple rounds for all of the 17 WCA events.
Free day: After 4 days of tiring and intensive competition, competitors
and companions who wish to explore the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
can opt to join an arranged 1-2 day trip around the city.

Proposed Venue:
MITEC (Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre), which is
located at the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.

Strategic location
MITEC is the best choice for Asian Championship 2024 as it is strategically
located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, making it easily accessible to both
domestic and international participants. Its proximity to major
transportation hubs, including Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA),
ensures convenient travel for competitors and attendees from all over
Asia.

Spacious Venue
MITEC offers a vast exhibition space that spans a total of 3,000 square
meters, making it an ideal choice for hosting large-scale events like the
Asian Championship 2024. This extensive area allows for multiple
competition setups, registration counters, information desks, seating
arrangements, practice areas, and additional activities to enhance the
overall experience.

Ample Capacity
With a capacity to accommodate up to 2,000 people, MITEC provides
sufficient room for competitors, officials, spectators, event staff, vendors,
and sponsor areas. This ensures that the venue can comfortably host a
substantial number of participants from across Asia, fostering a
competitive and engaging atmosphere and also creating opportunities for
attendees to explore the latest cubing products, purchase merchandise,
and engage with sponsors.
Public Transportation & e-Hailing
The venue is well-connected to Kuala Lumpur's efficient public
transportation system, including the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Light
Rail Transit (LRT) networks. This allows participants to easily access the
venue from various parts of the city. Furthermore, participants can rely on
the efficient e-Hailing services in Malaysia, such as Grab and local
alternatives, ensuring convenient transportation to and from MITEC
during the Asian Championship 2024.

from MITEC.

distance from MITEC.

Participants will have no shortage of choices for meals.

competition. Just to name a few:

Sunway Putra Mall: Adjacent to Sunway Putra Hotel, this mall offers a
wide range of shopping, dining, and entertainment options, making it a
convenient choice for participants and attendees.

Suria KLCC: While a bit further from MITEC, Suria KLCC is one of Kuala
Lumpur's most famous malls, located at the base of the iconic Petronas
Twin Towers. It offers a high-end shopping experience with international
brands.

KLCC Park: Adjacent to Suria KLCC, KLCC Park is a green oasis with a man-
made lake and walking paths. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the
view of the Petronas Twin Towers.

Aquaria KLCC: Also situated in Suria KLCC, Aquaria is an impressive


oceanarium showcasing marine life from around the world.

Bukit Bintang: This bustling district is known for its nightlife and

The Royal Selangor Visitor Centre: Discover the art of pewter crafting at
this visitor center, located not far from MITEC.

Core Team Members

1. Leow Yi Jun:
As the head organizer, Yi Jun brings a wealth of
experience in event management and a deep
understanding of the speedcubing community. He will
oversee the overall planning and execution of the
championship. His 4-year experience as a Senior Delegate
is definitely a huge asset for the organizing team.

2. Wang Junwen:
Junwen, with his strong logistical and operational skills,
will manage the day-to-day aspects of the event, ensuring
that all competitions and activities run smoothly. His
experience in organizing Asian Championship 2018 will
also be a huge asset for this competition.

3. Joyce Peh:
Joyce's expertise in Public Relations will be instrumental
in creating awareness of the championship and attracting
participants and sponsors. Her experience in observing
mega competitions around the world, such as WCA Asian
Championship 2018 and WCA World Championship 2019
will be of use for the organizing team.

4. Michelle Chew:
Michelle, with her legal background, will be responsible
for the documentation and compliance aspects of the
event and also act as a liaison between stakeholders
involved. Her experience in assisting in multiple
competitions in Malaysia will also be useful to manage
everybody’s expectations.

Regional Organization Support

MYCA (Malaysia Cube Association) will play


a pivotal role by providing manpower and
advisory support. Their extensive knowledge
of the Malaysian cubing community and
event organization will be invaluable in
ensuring a successful championship.

MYCA recently obtained registration as a sports organization under the


Ministry of Youth and Sports. This achievement positions us to secure
potential sponsorships from government grants and local organizations for
CSR programs.

Supporting Team Members


The supporting team members, consisting of Ivan Lew, Muhammad Syahmi,
Bryan Gan, Eng Dickson, Yan Tan, Zi Yang, Ivan Lew, Pearly, Solomon, and Yee
Voon, will contribute their expertise in various aspects of the championship,
including logistics, competition management, and on-site support. Further,
we will also have Chia-Leo Lin (Delegate from Taiwan), who will provide
essential software support, ensuring that the competition runs smoothly and
adheres to WCA regulations.

In addition, we will request local businesses and authorities, the Malaysian


ministry, and cube manufacturers to provide financial support or other means
of sponsorship.

We will aim to have 60 full-time staff as manpower for the competition. This
excludes volunteers from the competitions. This will ensure that the
competitors have time to practice and rest for the competition.
