Weekly Report on Week- 03

Objectives:
1. To gain practical experience by working with the Information Technology
Division of United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB).
2. To apply knowledge and skills learned in the classroom in a professional setting.
3. To learn, develop and refine time-management skills, interpersonal skills,
organizational/teamwork skills, and oral/written communication skills.
4. To identify areas for future knowledge and skill developments.
5. To gain knowledge about the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for FCUBS.
6. To gain knowledge about important codes used in FLEXCUBE.

Daily work done:

Day 1 • Gained knowledge about FCUBS Module Support.
• Gained practical understanding on MOS issue raise.
Day 2 • Gained knowledge about different functions used in FCUBS.
• Gained knowledge about FCUBS Webservice.
Day 3 • Gained knowledge about important codes used in FLEXCUBE.
Day 4 • Gained knowledge about important codes used and their practical
implementation in FLEXCUBE.

Learning and achievement:

• During the 3rd week of the internship program, I had the opportunity to gain
knowledge about FCUBS Module support which can be represented as below-
✓ FCUBS Module support (TF, Treasury, CL, GB etc.)
i. UTC/BOD requests through the email.
ii. Analyze the request and develop scripts/queries.
iii. Provide the data through mail/shared location.
iv. UTC/BOD checks the data and confirm.
• During this period of internship, I got familiar with the steps of issue raised at
MOS. These are as follows-
i. Collect the debug.
ii. Provide issue title, FCUBS version, specification and other details.
iii. Provide server details.
iv. Provide simulation steps.
v. Generate spool by provided script from MOS.
vi. Upload debug, spool, screen shot at MOS.
vii. Generate mail to concern business team with SR no and issue object.

• I also gained knowledge about important codes used in FLEXCUBE. Some

of these are as follows-
Codes/Functional ID Use
103 Used to delete an unauthorized batch.
105 Used for Till adjustment. The mismatch between
Till box and volt can be fixed on FLEXCUBE.
106 Used to delete unauthorized RD transaction.
107 Used for Batch saving problem.
108 Used when branch is closed but there is need to do
transaction.
• During the last working day of the week, I got a mail from UCB Bank,
Chittagong branch regarding to delete unauthorized batch. Then, I logged in
to FLEXCUBE and used the code 103 for deleting batch. This converted the
batch from unauthorized to authorized by updating the main dataset having
SQL command.

• Observations / Reflections:
• My problem-solving skills are increasing day by day while working with the
IT team.
• I am discovering myself as a team worker and thus acquiring teamwork skills.
Roadblocks:
• Confidentiality issue is a factor here while working as an intern at the IT
division of the bank.

Link to academic knowledge:

Microsoft Excel: Excel had been a part of my academic coursework. Using Excel
during the internship was an application of the skills I had acquired.
Dealing with new software: During my academic coursework, I used to get familiar
and deal with new and different software. It is helping me to deal with a new software
named FLEXCUBE during the internship. Overall, the technologies used during my
internship seamlessly integrated with my academic coursework.
