I. Write some ideas that could describe your opinion or experiences about the topics below. (50
words in each one)

1. Your first day at elementary school.

I was very nervous and I remember crying. I really wanted to go back to kindergarten with my

next day I return to kindergarten with my friends

2. The quality of your elemental education.

In elementary school I didn't like mathematics so much, but I tried hard to understand him. I
learned more from my brother, and thanks to that I was able to understand topics that were just
going to be taught to me in classes.

3. The higher education facilities in your country.

I really believe that there is much to improve, many facilities are forgotten, and the government
does not pay much attention to those issues. In many schools they do not have workshops for
better preparation due to lack of resources, but I think it could change by investing more in
education.

4. The preparation of teachers in your school

13

5. All children attend to school in Mexico.

Not really, there is a lot of poverty in the country, and although everyone has the right to
education, it does not mean that it is free. There are many marginalized people who do not
even have the recurdos to have a dignified life, and education is a problem that to this day the
government leaves for the end.

6. Higher Education is expensive in Mexico

In private schools yes, but we also have public schools that can offer a basic education, even
workshops. And there are also scholarships that many schools offer to support students to
continue studying

7. Educative System in Mexico needs improvement

yes, it needs an improvement. As well as better preparing educators, because there are really
very bad teachers who in the end harm the students and many by ego do not accept different
options

Activity 12 “Reviewing Information about education in the United Kingdom”

I. Write five questions that can be answered with the information given about higher education
in the United Kingdom. Include the answers. You may use the next structure in your

Activity 14 “Research about Academic Exchange Programs in your school”

ll. Write a brief essay about the advantages and disadvantages to study abroad (1 page)

YOU GET TO LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE

If you study abroad in a country where they don’t speak your native language, you will have an
excellent opportunity to learn theirs. There is nothing like living in a country to learn its language. If
you already know the basics of the language, this is your opportunity to improve your fluency.

IT LOOKS GOOD ON YOUR RÉSUMÉ/ CV

Having a period spent studying abroad on your CV tells employers that you are a well-travelled
person who is open to different cultures and different points of view. It also suggests that you have
the ability to be independent and that you likely possess valuable language skills.

BETTER LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Studying abroad makes it easier for you to receive the best possible teaching in your chosen field of
study. This is because you can apply to study at the leading institutions in the world for your subject,
rather than settling on what institutions are close to home.

IT TAKES YOU OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

Moving abroad to study forces you to be independent and not rely on family members for support.
You will have to work out for yourself how everything works in your host country. This gives you the
opportunity to confront any social anxieties you may have and become a more confident person as
a result. You will realise that you can do much more for yourself than you previously thought.

HIGH COST

It is often the case that tuition fees are higher for international students. Plus, you may not be
entitled to the same student loans that you would receive back at home. In addition, you will have to
factor in considerable moving costs when you choose to study abroad.

16
LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL BARRIERS

While studying abroad is an excellent opportunity to learn a new language, you may initially have
some problems with language barriers. This is especially likely at the beginning when you need to
arrange things like a bank account and accommodation. It is also possible that you could come up
against cultural barriers to do with religion, gender roles, or communication differences.

HIGHER RISK

If you are unlucky enough to dislike your course, or if you come up against some personal issues
and need to return home prematurely, you will have wasted a lot more time, effort and money than if
you had chosen to study at home.

There are both advantages and disadvantages to studying abroad, but the disadvantages tend to
be worst-case scenarios, or they can be easily overcome. So don’t let the disadvantages of
studying abroad put you off making an important life decision that will bring you a wealth of benefits.
Wondering where you should study? Check out our guide to the best places to study abroad.

Don't forget you can ship your luggage with Send My Bag when studying abroad, allowing you to
create a home from home.

Activity 15 “Mexican inventions”

I. Choose from the inventions given the six things that you think were invented by a
Mexican.

one of the most important events in
the history of humanity. When the
bulbs were presented, thus taking a
step to the electricity that we
consume today.

CAPACITOR

A device used to store an electric

charge, consisting of one or more
pairs of conductors separated by an
insulator.

Activity 17 “Engineering designs for the future”

20
I. Watch the video about Engineering in the future in the next link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlnlkMbukmA. Answer the following questions:

1) Write a summary of the video ( 1 page)

Hyperloop is a new form of ground transport cyrrently in development by a number of

companies, it could see passengers travelling at over 700 miles an hour floating pod which
races along inside giant-low pressure tubes, either above or below ground.

There are two big differences between Hyperloop and traditional rail. Firstly, the pods
carrying passengers travel trough tubes or tunnels from which most of the air has been
removed to reduce friction. This should allow the pods to travel at up to 750 miles per hour.

Supporter argue that Hyperloop could be cheaper and faster tan train or car travel, and
cheaper and less polluting air travel. They claim that it’s also quicker and cheaper to bould
tan traditional high-speed rail. Hyperloop could therefore be used to take the pressure off
gridlocked roads, making travel between cities easier, and potentially unlocking major
economic benefits as a result.

Critics of Hyperloop have warned that travelling in the tuve might be an uncomfortable
experience, due to nausea-inducing acceleration, plus lateral G-force on bends in the
route. However, Virgin Hyperloop One says that journey via Hyperloop will feel about the
same as riding in an elevator or a passenger plane.

2) Describe the innovation shown in the video. (1 page)

The key innovation offered by Hyperloop is the expected short travel time – the „price“ to
pay for the short travel times envisaged is, as mentioned, that the trajectory of the vehicle
must be enclosed (in the tube), which results in complex systems for normal operation and
for managing emergency situations

21
3) How was the engineering applied in the design and implementation of the construction
presented? (1 page)

The Hyperloop system consists of sealed and partially evacuated tubes, connecting
mobility hubs in large metropolitan areas, and pressurized vehicles, usually called pods,
which can move at very high speeds, thanks to contactless levitation and
propulsion systems as well as to the low aerodynamic drag.

4) Write a conclusion about the activity (1/2 page)

Hyperloop is a mode of passenger and/or cargo transport proposed by Tesla and SpaceX, used
to describe a low-pressure tube train design. Hyperloop technology has been designed under the
concept of free hardware by Elon Musk and SpaceX, and they have encouraged others to put
their ideas and make the development greater. To that end, several companies have been
created, and dozens of interdisciplinary teams carried out by students working to advance
technology.

Activity 18 “Celebrating music in a country”

script that they handle in that movie. Despite spending many years, the actor's films to this
day I still like. In history, there have been very good actors and actresses with great
recognition who left us their great performances on the big and small screen. It is something
of which we are very grateful, to be able to enjoy many scenes of Mexican cinema.
