Introduction:

(Bro. Jojo) Eph 6:17-18 is the last portion of the scriptures we are studying about the “Whole Armour of God.”
It says v17 "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:" v18 "Praying always with all
prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;"

(Bro. Rosh) Paul through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit uses the metaphor of a Roman soldier’s armor to illustrate
the spiritual armor that we as believers should put on to stand against spiritual warfare.
(Bro. Dennis) Now Paul mentions in v17 to “take the helmet of salvation.” The helmet protects the head, symbolizing
the assurance and protection we have through our salvation in Christ. It guards our minds! against doubts! against fear!
It guards us against the lies of the enemies trying to implant in our minds. And now Paul mentioned the next piece…

(Bro. Jojo) Next, Paul speaks of the “sword of the Spirit” the last piece of armor of God mentioned w/c is the word of
God. We are to utilize the Scriptures as a mighty weapon against demonic attacks, just as a soldier holds a sword for
offensive and defense. God's word is alive and active, allowing us to distinguish between truth and untruth and to
refute the enemy's falsehoods with the truth of God's Word.
(Bro. Rosh) The Bible said in Heb 4:12 "For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and
intents of the heart."
While the other pieces are shown as important pieces of the Armour of God; by metaphor, these are used for defense;
however the sword of the Spirit may be used for both defense and offense against the devil's schemes.

(Bro. Dennis) In Matthew 4, we find Jesus tempted by the devil in the wilderness when He fasted 40 days & 40 nights.
He was hungry like what I felt right now … but during this encounter, Jesus demonstrates how powerful the Word
of God is as a weapon against the enemy!
 When the devil tempts Jesus to turn stones into bread to satisfy His hunger, Jesus responds
 (B’ Jojo) v4 Jesus said, "…It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the
mouth of God."
 The devil gives his rebuttal and quoted also a scripture in Psalms 91:11-12, Jesus gives His defense…
 (B’ Rosh) v7 "Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."
Finally, the devil offers Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if He would worship him. In response, Jesus said
"Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." (Luke 4:8)
(Bro. Jojo) God’s Word is so powerful that the unrepentant cannot stand against it!
 Rev 2:16 "Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth."
(Bro. Rosh) God’s Word is so powerful no one can stand against the sharpness of this sword!
 Rev 19:15 "And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod
of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God."

(Bro. Dennis) Question! Why the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God is is so powerful?
Jesus is the Incarnate word of God… it was God in the flesh…
 1Tim 3:16 "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh...."
The Word of God became flesh in the person our Lord Jesus Christ
 John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
 v14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…"
Jesus said Mt 24:35 "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." God’s Word stands forever!
(Bro. Rosh) Question! Where can we find the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God today?
 Eccl 8:4 "Where the word of a king [is, there is] power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?"
Except for one, all Bibles throughout our lifetime have been influenced and controlled by humans. That is the KJV
Bible.

(Bro. Jojo) In Conclusion:

The sword of the Spirit, which is God's word, became human & lived among us at one point in time. The bible is the
perfect and real Sword of God that will remain with us to educate and save us from the end-of-the-world judgment.
 Ps 12:6 "The words of the LORD [are] pure words: [as] silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times."
 Ps 12:7 "Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. "
(Bro. Dennis) Now we learned that the sword of the Spirit, w/c is God's word, became human in the fullness of time &
lived among us… We have to acknowledge that if you have the “sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” we are
not just holding a weapon… we are holding a Person named Jesus Christ… why? because the Lord Jesus was called
the “Word of God”
 John saw Him & penned it in Rev 19:13 "And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The
Word of God."
(Bro. Rosh) & in our last verse - Eph 6:18 "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching
thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;"

(Bro. Jojo) Prayer is not mentioned as part of the pieces of the armor of God, but we should not underestimate the
importance of it. Prayer should be “ in the Spirit”, that is inspired & led by Him. There must be “ perseverance”, keep
asking, seeking, knocking. & “supplication” an earnest request. It says to pray “for all saints” – that is to pray for one
another that we might not be defeated in whatever battles w/the enemy; we need to be supported in prayer by our
fellow soldiers.
