A paper presented to the Facility of Business and Social sciences at the UNIVERSITY OF
THE PEOPLE in partial fulfillment for the Award of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business
Administration (BBA).
The Information Technology era is already here, this is something already happening around

the world, most of this technology advances are here to help the people to do the things

easily, to have information instantly, and to connect people everywhere. One of this

technology, in my opinion that has a high potential of taking over people’s job is the

Artificial Intelligence.

I think the AI can take the jobs of the Call Center people, or the jobs from assistant people,

because one of their goals is to “respond to humans, given the human capacity for

contemplation, judgment and intention” (West, 2015, p.4). There are some demos for some

IA Technologies that are already answering to the people, having conversations and task like

the Google Assistant that is “capable of carrying out a sophisticated conversation and it

completes the majority of its tasks fully autonomously” (Welch, 2018, para. 7).

One of the technologies, in my opinion, can have a less impact to the people’s jobs is the

Augmented Reality, because its main function are in order to support people doing their

tasks, “Using handheld devices or sensors, they can move through buildings, simulate battle

conditions, role play disaster responses, or immerse themselves in virtual reality” (West,

2015, p.5). So, I think this can help to improve people usual activities or to have better

response to natural phenomena, seems like a support instead to a problem for people’s jobs.

One of the applications for AR is the “Augmented reality in healthcare used for train medical

students, in critical situations, augmented reality apps can deliver real-time information to the

treatment area to support a diagnosis” (Marr, 2018, para.8).

The Artificial Intelligence is one of the technologies that have a great impact in my life, this

is because can be very useful to have a Virtual Assistant that can help you in your tasks, you
won’t need to make an appointment or to remember some things, because you will program

your Virtual Assistant to help you in this tasks. Otherwise, I think can be really difficult when

this technology becomes cheaper, because lot of companies will have this service instead

using humans for this task, so the technology will take their jobs, this is the awful part.

Another technology that is really interesting is the 3-D printing, because this companies can

make their products just giving the design plans and the materials, this will have a great

impact on the people job’s specially those who are working on manufacturer area. But in the

other way, the cost of the things can be cheaper and the people can have something that was

expensive by a low cost, like cars or furniture.

In conclusion, the technology comes to help the people to do their jobs faster and better, but

the real thing is with the advanced technologies some of this can be taking over the places of

the people, and the people should adapt to the new era and change their jobs to others, this is

something that is happening and can’t be stopped.
