Sabbatical Policy

Objective
Sabbaticals are an effective means of stimulating innovation and productivity. Through this policy,
Mahindra Susten aims to allow employees to take productive breaks from work to focus on their
passions and areas of interest, that are otherwise neglected due to work pressures. Employees
may avail sabbaticals for any other personal reason as well. This policy aims to set some basic
rules and guidelines around sabbaticals and what they entail.

Eligibility
Employees of all grades (except trainees) on the rolls of Mahindra Susten Private Limited who
have completed two years of continuous service with the company may avail the sabbatical leave
for any reason.

Details of the policy


Duration: Sabbaticals may be availed for a maximum of three months at a stretch and can be
availed only once during their entire tenure.

Nature of arrangement and work entailed.


• The employee will not receive his/her salary for this period.
• Sabbatical leave cannot be translated into PLs, ELs or any other form of leave offered at
Mahindra Susten. It is a special case which will be granted at the discretion of the employee’s
reporting manager.
• Employees cannot take up any work that is remunerative in nature. Doing so will be in
violation of the code of conduct.
• Employees would continue to remain eligible for Performance Pay, LTA, gratuity, and medical
benefits.
• Performance Pay shall be calculated on a pro-rated basis considering the sabbatical period.

How to apply:
Employees will have to apply for sabbatical leave through their respective manager, Functional
Head and Head - HR. The application for Sabbatical should be submitted at least 3 months in
advance.

Role after Sabbatical:


The role of the employee may be filled but on return, the employee will be given suitable
employment commensurate with their capability, level, and career. While efforts would be made
to give the employee a position of their choice, no commitment can be given on the same.
