The verb to be in present has 3 forms: AM, IS and ARE. But in the past tense it only
has 2 forms: WAS and WERE.

Positive structure
Subject + WAS/ WERE + adjective.
Examples:
I was happy.

Subject + WAS/ WERE + Place.

I was at the park.
You were at the store.
He was in the classroom.
