Belt Welding Instructions

V-belt 17 x 11 blue HYT 55 D

V-belt 17 x 11 Blue Power
Principle
The belt ends are surface-fused by a welding mirrow and welded together using
clamping pliers.
Once the weld is cooled down, the ends are firmly and homogeneously connected.

Tools
Belt tensioning unit ID No.: 00061905

- belt supports
- ratchet tensioner

Belt scissors ID No.: 00014822

- scissors
- support plate with 3 angular marks

Clamping pliers ID No.: 00035000

- pliers with two belt supports

- fixing device

Belt welding tool ID No.: 00205987

- supply voltage: 230V, 50/60Hz
- spatulate, teflon-coated heater plate
- thermal control

Voltage transformer ID No.: 00206003

- supply voltage: 120V, 50/60Hz
- output voltage: 230V, 50/60Hz
- in addition to belt welding equipment with
supply voltage of 120V

Change of heater plates:

Do not loosen the union nut

) Pull out plates straight, otherwise the temperature

sensor may be damaged

When inserting the new plate, the slot must be

aligned with the actuating tongue

Preparation
Environment No extreme draught

Room temperature > 10°C

In case of need, use a radiant heater or
a blow-dryer

Belt Bend up belt ends

Insert belt into conveyor and pre-tension it

using the belt tensioning unit

Clean belt ends with an alcoholic solvent

(e.g. isopropyl alcohol)

Cut belt ends under a 45° angle using

the belt scissors

Insert belt ends into clamping pliers so that

the cut surfaces are parallel

Welding
Adjusting Place cold belt welding tool between cut belt ends

Clamp belt ends onto the cold heater plate

using the clamping pliers
(better plastication during welding)

Heating Set temperature control to 240°C mark

(corresponds to a temperature range of
215°C to 245°C)

Heat belt ends until the two cut surfaces build up

a dough-like bead and the heater plate can be
slightly shifted

Temperature too low:

no bead on cut surfaces
Temperature too high:
blisters on cut surfaces

)
In such cases correct the temperature by means of
the temperature control

Connecting Quickly open clamping pliers and remove
heater plate

Press belt ends slightly together using

the clamping pliers
(do not press dough-like bead away)

Fix clamping pliers using locknuts and leave weld

to cool down for at least 15 minutes.
Remove clamping pliers

Reworking
Cleaning Remove welding remains from the heater plate
with a belt piece while the plate is still hot

No not use a knife or other sharp objects

Weld Remove weld edges with a knive

Check
) Let weld harden for at least 1 hour

Pre-tensioning Mark the belt at two points in slack condition

at an interval of 100 cm

Measure distance between marks on tensioned belt.

The difference in cm corresponds to pre-tension
in %

Required pre-tension [%]:

)
Conveyor length < 15 m: 1 %
Conveyor length < 15 m: 1.2 %
