Module Objectives:
1. Develop and apply techniques and strategies for managing classroom behaviour of young children.
2. Improve skills in managing groups of young children during and between activities of the day.
3. Recognise and anticipate inappropriate behaviour, and to learn new techniques to prevent or manage such
behaviour appropriately.
4. Communicate with colleagues, parents and children about encouraging acceptable behaviour that supports
children’s development.

Module outcomes:
At the end of the module the students demonstrate an ability to:-
1. Apply existing or new techniques and strategies in preventing and managing young children’s behavior.
2. Apply knowledge and skills in guiding young children’s behavior.
3. Recognize and solve issues related to inappropriate, negative and unacceptable behavior in young children.
4. Express and communicate effectively with parents of young children.
5. Act effectively as a team with families, colleagues and other professionals to promote acceptable children’s
behavior.
6. Conduct counseling sessions with children and parents.

Synopsis:
In this module, students learn about the causes of challenging behaviors in the classroom and the strategies in
preventing challenging behaviors. Behavior managing and modification strategies in the classroom. Students are
exposed to theories, behaviors and application of sound practical approaches towards young children’s behavior.
Importance and techniques employed in parental involvement and parent-teacher conferences are taught to students
to facilitate behavior management in the classroom.
