B. ANALYSIS

Do you have any idea class about our topic? (Students' answers may vary.)
Yes Angel?

Yes, you’re right!

What is mixology?
Kindly read,Kara. Mixology involves creating cocktails and
changing existing ones. It’s a unique combination
of creativity and technical expertise, with a focus
on mixing, blending, and balancing different
flavors to create the perfect drink. It’s a skill that
requires both passion and dedication, with various
techniques to learn and recipes to memorize.

Thank you!
What do you think is the difference between
mixology and bartending?
Anyone?
(Students raising their hands)
While bartending and mixology are often used
interchangeably, there’s a distinct difference between
the two: Bartending is making and serving drinks to
customers, whereas mixology is really the creation of
drinks.
Bartending is primarily focused on serving classic
cocktails from existing recipes, whereas mixology
focuses on creating innovative and new cocktails,
using a wide variety of techniques and ingredients,
and reinventing classics.

Precisely! Thank you!

Next we have the origin of word cocktail.

One theory posits that long ago, English sailors
The origins of the word “cocktail” are varied and
highly debated. enjoyed mixed drinks in a Mexican tavern that
Kindly read,Gio.
contained a sort of stirrer made from a plant called

cola de gallo, which means “cock’s tail” in English.

They then brought that name back to England, which

later made its way to America.

Thank you!

Others say the word originated in America, where in

New Orleans they served a mixed drink in a French
egg cup called a coquetier, which was later
pronounced by English speakers as “cocktail.”
Next we have the story behind the martini cocktail.

What do you think is the story behind? (Students respond)

Can you please read,Anna. Many believe the martini was invented in the 1860s at

the Occidental Hotel in San Francisco by bartender

Jerry Thomas.

Thomas evolved a one part sloe gin, two parts sweet

vermouth, maraschino and a dash of bitters with a

lemon concoction into a drink he called the Martinez,

which he made for passengers departing on the ferry

to the town of the same name. It was said to also be

prepared for miners celebrating striking gold.

Others believe it was invented in 1911 at the

Knickerbocker Hotel in New York by bartender
Martini di Taggia, served to billionaire John D.
Rockerfeller with equal parts London dry gin and dry
vermouth. However, recipes for the drink were
published as early as 1862, in Jerry Thomas’s
Bartenders’ Guide

And the last one is how do mixologists come up with

new cocktail recipes?
Kindly read.
An expert in this field, called a mixologist, has a

passion for making cocktail drinks. They learn classic

cocktail recipes and examine the chemistry of mixed

drinks.

The in-depth knowledge necessary for inventing new

cocktail recipes is the main difference between a

mixologist and a bartender..

Thank you!
Mixologists understand the interaction between
ingredients that produce optimal drink flavoring.
