Research Title Language Learning Styles of Grade 8 Students


of Urdaneta City National High School
Background of the Study The quality of education is determined by many aspects.
One of these is the learners’ ability to learn and demonstrate
that learning in many contexts and in different fields and
endeavors…
The Department of Education strongly promotes a
learner-centered classroom where the learners are the main
subject and concern of the teaching and learning process and
the teachers as the facilitators…
Learning styles refer to the variations in your ability to
accumulate as well as assimilate information. Basically, your
learning style is the method that best allows you to gather and
use knowledge in a specific manner. (Abante, et.al., 2014)
According to Lucas and Corpuz (2007), learning or
thinking styles refer to the preferred way of individual
processes information and also describe a person’s typical
mode of thinking, remembering or problem solving.
In addition, students study differently; “what works well
for one student may not be beneficial or favorable to another”
(Man & Tomoko, 2010, p. 30). Hence, Man and Tomoko (2010)
added that individuals learn differently through many ways
from time to time, from culture to culture and from context to
context. Thus, it has become one of the pivotal factors to know
students’ preferred learning styles that can assist the learning
process.

Statement of the This study will be conducted to determine the language


Problem learning styles of Grade 8 students of Urdaneta City National
High School. It will seek to answer the following specific
questions:
1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of the
following:
a. sex;
b. age; and
b. talents/hobbies?
2. What are the language learning styles of the Grade 8
students along with the following:
a. Visual;
b. Auditory; and
c. Kinesthetic?
3. What plan of action can be proposed for effective
language learning among students?

Purpose/Objective of This study aims to determine the language learning styles


the Study of the respondents.
The result/findings of this study shall be used to enhance
and provide effective language learning among students and to
design language teaching styles of teachers as well in order to
promote learner-centered language classrooms.

Significance This study would be beneficial to the society considering


of the Study the different language learning styles of the students…
Schools and school administrators will benefit from this
study since they will able to guide teachers specifically language
teachers in designing, preparing, and utilizing instructional
strategies…
This study would also be significant to the learners for
their learning to be more effective by aligning with their learning
styles the teaching methods…
As researchers and learners, we will become more critical
thinkers and we will be more aware of the learning styles which
we find more effective, making us academically successful…

Scope and Delimitation This study will determine the different language learning
of the Study styles of the students.
The researchers utilized the VAK learning styles theory.
According to VAK theorists, as cited by Raihan and Shaaidi
(2012), educators need to present information by
using all the three styles. This allows the learners to become
involved, regardless of their preferred learning style (Clark,
2008), thus VAK theorists have come up with three main
categories as follows… (Paki-include kung anong theory ang
suitable at sumusuporta sa inyong study.)

The researchers delimited the study to the Grade 8


students of Urdaneta City National High School enrolled during
the School Year 2023-2024. There are 5 sections of Grade 8,
each consists of 48 students, and the researchers will randomly
select 20 students from each section. Quota sampling will be
used…
