What is Kafkaesque?
> Kafkaesque refers to a style or situation that is in reminiscent of
the themes and atmosphere found in the works of Franz Kafka.

> The term "Kafkaesque" is often used to characterize situations


that are marked by absurdity and complexity.

> For instance, a situation in which getting involved in confusing


and contradictory rules while all trying to accomplish a simple
task or a goal could be described as Kafkaesque.
Examples of kafkaesque;

● When you fail an exam and you lose your job on the same day.

● When someone loses a friend or family member, gets in a car


accident and gets kicked out of their house in the same day.

Kafkaesque involves;

● A sense of absurdity

● A nightmarish quality

● A feeling of helplessness

● And entrapment

>He was born on the 3rd of July, 1883 in Prague which at the time was a
part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

>He came from a Jewish middle- class household with a steady flow of
income and was the eldest out of six children.

>His relationship with his family was complex especially with his father,
Hermann Kafka. Kafka’s father had high expectations from his son and
pressured Kafka.

About Kafka
>Kafka is a lawyer but his real interest and passion is
fiction writing. His other interest is alternative
medicine, modern education system such as Montessori,
and technological novelties such as airplane and film

>Over the weekend he likes to hangout with his friends.


They started on long hikes he often planned.
● Enjoyed swimming and hiking

● Usually takes trips to the countryside with his friends and family

● Could speak German, Czech, French and Yiddish

● Used to read a lot as a child growing up

● Would cheat on his high-school exams
