Connecting the Honeywell VISTA-48 control panel to the EPX400 transmitter

I. Introduction
Wiring the Honeywell Vista-48 control panel and Programming the Modem Emulator.
To configure the connection, you need: a computer, OSM access, GRPS transmitters
configurator, an Modem Emulator, a Control Panel Configurator (in this case Compass
1.5.8.96L), a control panel installer code (individual), connection cables.

The manual assumes that the correct configurator is on the customer side. The
program can be downloaded from the producer's website.

II. Wiring the VISTA-48 control panel and EPX400

The cooperation between the devices is carried out by means of an appropriate
connection. The connection of the devices is shown in the diagram:

III. EPX400 programming

In the GPRS transmitters configurator select the Server Connection tab. Fill in the Primary
Server Adress and Primary Server Port fields. Next click on Communication tab. Select
Advanced settings and establish the route of data transmission on the GPRS as Main.

Properly configured data allows access to the OSM.Server. More information about
OSM.Server you can find in the manual on the website: www.ebssmart.com.

IV. Programming the Modem Emulator

Open The Modem Emulator v.1.0.97.1. This program is used for communication
between the Compass software and the EPX400 transmitter using the GSM
network. Fill the appropriate fields. Press Start button.

Modem Emulator Display Description

Communication settings between Modem Emulator and OSM :
Analyzer name Name of the analyzer in OSM
OSM Server IP address used to communication with Modem Emulator
Server IP software
OSM Server port used to listen for commands from Modem Emulator
Server Port software
Device Number Serial number of EPX400 transmitter (leave field blank)
Communication settings between Modem Emulator and Compass software:
COM port on the computer through which the Compass program connects
Serial Port to the modem [in this case with the Modem Emulator]
Control Panel Type Vista
Communication settings between Modem Emulator and EPX400 transmitter:
Public IP Public IP address of the computer with the Modem Emulator software
Public port on which the Modem Emulator software communicates with
Public Port the transmitter.

V. Communicating with the Control Panel using Compass-

1.5.8.96L software and Windows XP operating system
1. In the next step start the program Compass 1.5.8.96L. Next, you have to set
the ComPort the same as Serial Port in the Modem Emulator and choose the
modem Ademco CIA 2400 as shown in the diagram below:

2. From the Customers screen (click Customers toolbar button), select the
desired customer record. Then, click the Modify button in Panel Options.

3. The control panel should be configured in such a way that it receives calls. Select
Dialer from menu. The number of ringtones that can be set is in the range of 0-
15. We recommend setting 3 calls.

4. Select the Communications from menu

5. In the next step click on the Connect button.

6. Select PC and unselect "Answering Machine Defeat". Enter the Control Panel
phone number if it was not already entered on the Customer Information screen.
Click the Connect button.

7. When the Control Panel connects, select the desired action from the On-line
Commands (Download, Upload, etc.).
8. When downloading is complete, click Disconnect.
