Information Description

Introduction of
the place: The Zipaquirá salt mine is a great tourist place in the region, which stands out

for being the salt rock reserve in the world, you can also take a tour of the city,

where you can find delicious meals and different activities to perform, and its

climate varies depending on the season of the year.

Duration of the
trip: The days for this trip vary depending on the time availability of the tourist.

To do?

First day: Stay in one of the many hotels in the municipality, and get ready

for a great adventure.

First night: You could go out for a night tour of the city and even better if it is

Christmas time due to the great illuminations of the town.

Second day: Go to the wonder of Zipaquirá "The salt mine", where you can

start a great tour of its facilities, where there is a tour guide for more

information.

Second night: If you wish, you can go to the park of the

Independence, well known and frequented by its inhabitants, with the aim of

spending a pleasant time dancing or drinking with your group of friends or

family.
Third day: You can go to the center of the municipality and enjoy our

excellent food and the best service.

Means of
transportation First of all, the means of transportation during the trip depend on where the

visitor comes from, since if it is from another city, the most essential thing

would be the plane, but if it is from a neighboring municipality, it would be by

bus, motorcycle, car or train.

Already to transport within the municipality, you could opt for taxi, bus,

motorcycle.

Activities to do
One of the places that you should know in this excellent place is the water

mirror, previously a brine (place for the saturation of salt), those surroundings

are illuminated to reflect in the static water and give a fascinating optical

effect that gives the impression to be swimming in an underground void. The

mine has bilingual and multilingual guides for foreign tourists.

Later, a set of lights reveals the carved rock and the tunnels that house stations

of the cross. At the end there is access to three naves: the one for birth and

baptism, the one for life and death, and the one for resurrection, each with an

altar.

The exploitation of this mine has a history that goes back to pre-Columbian

times, through colonial and republican times to continue making history today.

It was the ancient Muisca Indians who first benefited from this enormous salt

deposit and became one of the most prosperous pre-Hispanic societies of their

time.
Places to stay:
A very good place to stay is the Hotel Camino de la Sal, a very nice place,

with comfortable rooms, buffet breakfasts, corporate events, and romantic

plans.

Another recommended place is the boutique hotel, characterized by the best

attention, in addition to having a bar, garden, 24-hour service and good food

service.

Typical Foods:
The typical meals of such a magnificent place are:

-Sancocho de gallina Soup prepared with chicken, potato and banana.

-Fritanga Sausage dish, black pudding, pork rinds, longaniza, potatoes, ripe

plantain and pork rib.

-Ajiaco Soup made with potatoes, guasca (grass), corn and chicken.

-Guarapo Alcoholic drink made from sugar cane.

Cost:
The cost of this package is cheap when compared to others, the value varies

between one million and five hundred million, due to accommodation, food,

entrance to the salt mine, city tour, transportation and of course souvenir gifts.
