"Empowering Your Well-Being:

Exploring the Vital Role of Physical
Activities in Health and Fitness"
What is physical Education?

1.2 Physical Education, often abbreviated as PE, is an educational discipline

that focuses on promoting physical fitness, well-being, and the development of
motor skills through structured physical activities. Physical education aims to
educate students about the importance of regular physical activity, teach
them various sports and exercises, and encourage the adoption of a healthy
and active lifestyle. These activities are designed to improve cardiovascular
fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, coordination, and overall
physical health. Physical education also aims to educate students about the
benefits of physical activity for their physical, mental, and emotional well-
being. It provides students with the knowledge and tools to make informed
decisions about their health and to develop habits that will contribute to a
healthy lifestyle throughout their lives.
Why is physical Education is still part of the curriculum?

1.3 Physical education remains an essential component of the curriculum due

to its multifaceted benefits. From promoting physical health and well-being to
fostering character development, cognitive growth, stress relief, and time
management skills, its impact extends far beyond the school years. By
equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and habits needed for a healthy
and balanced life, physical education plays a crucial role in shaping the overall
development of future generations. As such, its inclusion in the curriculum is
not just relevant but imperative for the holistic education of students.

REFLECTION
According to Bill Simon, the co-founder of UCLA Health, he discussed about
the importance of physical Education, his insight emphasize the connection
between physical activity and overall well-being. Incorporating regular
exercise not only promotes better health but also contributes to mental
clarity and enhanced quality of life. Through exercising, it optimize your
mindset and improving your motivation. It helps cell binds together which is
a way our brains hold information and create new nerv cells to improve
memorization.
Physical Education not only promotes physical well-being but also instills
discipline, teamwork, and stress relief. It helps students develop healthy habits
early on which can have lifelong benefits. By engaging exercise it reduce stress
and improve cognitive function, ultimately enhancing a student's academic
performance. Additionally, depression and anxiety occures in a different ways
in life, but it turns out that exercise is the effective natural way to deal and
fight stresses.

Cross-training
Cardiovascular activities are crucial in health and fitness routines
because they promote a strong heart and efficient circulatory
system. Engaging in cardiovascular exercises, such as running,
swimming, or cycling, increases heart rate and improves blood
circulation. This helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the body's
tissues, enhances lung capacity, and supports overall
cardiovascular health.

Flexibility is important in physical activities for health and fitness

because it enhances joint range of motion, reduces the risk of
injury, improves posture, and contributes to overall functional
movement. It allows muscles and tendons to move freely, aiding in
better performance during exercises and daily activities.

Additionally, improved flexibility can alleviate muscle tension and

enhance relaxation, promoting a balanced and well-rounded
fitness routine.

What global recommendation on PA Health, 2010
In 2010, the World Health Organization (WHO) released global
recommendations on physical activity for health. These
guidelines recommend that adults aged 18-64 should engage
in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical
activity throughout the week, or at least 75 minutes of
vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity, or an equivalent
combination of both.

Additionally, muscle-strengthening activities should be

done involving major muscle groups on two or more
days per week. These recommendations are aimed at
promoting overall health and reducing the risk of
chronic diseases.
