Flag Day in Mexico is a celebration that honors one of the most important national
symbols of the country. This date, celebrated on February 24, commemorates the
adoption of the national flag. The Mexican flag is an emblem full of meaning,
composed of three colors: green, white and red, which represent hope, purity and
the blood of national heroes respectively. It is a day in which national pride is
exalted and tribute is paid to the symbols that identify us as Mexicans, the three
national symbols of Mexico are the flag, the shield and the national anthem. Each
of them represents important aspects of the history and identity of Mexico. The flag
with its colors and design, the shield with its historical elements and the anthem
that exalts the values of the nation.
Each of the flags represents a specific moment in Mexican history and reflects the
evolution of the country over time. Standard of Hidalgo (1810-1813) Flag of José

1968) Current Flag (1968-to the present). Previously, Flag Day in Mexico was
usually commemorated with civic parades, school ceremonies and public events in
which the national flag was raised. Students and authorities participated in events
to pay tribute to the flag and remember its importance as a symbol of the nation. In
addition, drawing, poetry and declamation contests related to the flag were held,
thus promoting respect and love for this national symbol.
