Mexico has always been known for being a country rich in customs, customs that
have been acquired over the centuries. Its prehispanic cultures have made there
rites and customs of various kinds and many are still preserved by Mexicans today.
But customs have been mixed much with religion, especially the Catholic that is
prevalent in over 90% of the country, creating new customs with a richer touch in
all aspects. Throughout Mexico and beyond our borders, the celebration begins on
the night of September 15, all Mexicans are reunited with their families and friends.
Everyone leaves to live a moment, all the night of 15 and morning of September 16
and others continue all day on 16 September 17,18.
The September 15th day, at night, all give the cry of independence, as on the night
of September 15, 1810 Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, carrying a banner of the
Virgin of Guadalupe, called Mass and gathering people told them it was time for
Independence, which already had several months preparing with Father Jose
Maria Morelos y Pavon and Hidalgo the Corregidora of Doa Josefa Ortiz de
Dominguez. And lifting and waving the banner shout: Viva Mexico Viva
Independence, live the Virgin of Guadalupe. This Independence began, so all
Mexico on the night of 15 going on 16, is given by all Mexicans Grito de
Independencia.
Thus this much of our Mexican history is summarized, which lasted from 1810 to
1821. In many places, in towns and cities, many citizens gather in the center of the
towns or cities against the municipal palaces to give the cry of independence.
In the world's largest city, Mexico City, meet in the Zocalo, more than 2 million
people, where the President of the Republic will give the Grito de Independencia
remembering what made Miguel Hidalgo in 1810.
After Grito, in many places there are popular verbena (fairs), where they eat and
sell all Mexican dishes like quesadillas, "gorditas" molotes, mole, tostadas, pozole,
sloops, biuelos and many snacks more and music mariachi and drink tequila and
pulque, drinks totally Mexican.

This is how the Independence of Mexico, a very important for us all Mexican feast
is celebrated.
