The School Trip
Today, Class 2 are going on a trip. They are visiting the local fire station
because Miss Twiddle has been teaching them all about firefighters and
their jobs. The children are very excited about seeing a real fire engine.
Everyone needs their coats, packed lunches and clipboards. The children
walk in pairs all the way to the bus stop. The bus arrives and the children
find their seats. There is so much to see out of the window! Finally, they
arrive at their stop. Miss Twiddle makes sure everyone gets off the bus
and counts all the children. When they arrive at the fire station, the first
thing they see is three huge red doors. Each door has a fire engine behind
it. A firefighter comes outside to meet them. Her name is Tess. She tells
the children that one of the fire engines is going to come out. Tess asks the
children if they would like to sit in the fire engine. All the children say yes.

Nancy’s First Day
Nancy stands quietly in the corner of the playground. She holds her
mother’s hand tightly. Nancy can see all the other children talking,
laughing and playing with their friends. Nancy feels shy and worried
because she misses her old school. The bell rings and all the children begin
to line up with their teachers. Nancy’s new teacher is called Miss Amira.
She is wearing a blue dress with big yellow flowers all over it. Nancy joins
her line and follows the class inside. Miss Amira shows her where to put
her coat and her backpack. Next, all the children sit on the carpet together.
A girl called Olga sits down next to Nancy and smiles at her. At playtime,
Olga and Nancy play together and Miss Amira says they can sit together in
the classroom. When it is home time, Nancy tells her mother she has had a
great day. She can’t wait to come back to her new school again tomorrow.

At the Swimming Pool
It is a hot day and Rani and Abdul are going swimming with their dad. They
have packed their swimming costumes, towel and goggles into their bags.
Together, they walk to the swimming pool and wait in the queue to go in. In the
changing room, they get changed and put all their clothes into a locker. Rani
and Abdul hold hands and walk into the pool area. They have to be careful and
remember not to run. It can be slippery near the swimming pool. Rani is a great
swimmer and she jumps into the pool. Abdul is still learning to swim. Dad helps
him put on his armbands before he gets into the water. They climb down the
ladder together. Abdul kicks his legs and practices scooping with his hands to
move forward. When their time is finished, Rani and Abdul have a shower before
getting dressed. Dad has brought a snack and a drink to have after. Swimming is
hard work and they are hungry! Rani and Abdul love going swimming.

Morris is a monster. He lives in a small cave at the edge of a park. He
has bright blue fur which is very long. Every morning, it takes him a

gone home. He is very shy. Sometimes, Morris peeps out of his cave when
children are playing in the playground. He watches them whoosh down
the slide and swing up high in the air. It looks like fun but he is too
scared to join in. One night when it is dark, Morris is feeling brave. He
sneaks out of his cave and creeps into the playground. First, he climbs the
ladder and slides down the slide. Next, he spins round and round on the

Aisha’s New Pet
Aisha is very excited. After school, she is going to the pet shop. Her
mummy is taking her to get a new pet. When they arrived at the shop,
Aisha looked at all the interesting animals. There were so many that
it was very tricky for her to choose! First, she looked at the goldfish.
They had beautiful fins that swished and floated in the water. Next, she
visited the hamsters and guinea pigs. They had soft, short fur. Aisha liked
watching the rabbit hopping around and twitching his nose. Finally, she
decided she would like to choose a lizard. He was green, scaly and very
fast. Aisha decided to call him Leonard. The pet shop keeper told Aisha
