INTRODUCTION
Background information

Motivation and employee morale greatly influence job satisfaction in the

workplace. Morale relates to employees' mental state, while motivation drives them to
achieve their goals. The connection between these two factors and job satisfaction is
complex but vital for both employees and companies.

Motivating employees is very important because motivation of every

individual is his willingness to unreservedly work hard for high productivity; meaning
the employee is willing to use all the abilities that he has for the sake of his
organization by utilizing the available opportunities to accomplish his organization’s
mission. (Wakida, 2015)

One of the most important concerns of a manager is to motivate the people to

make their optimum contribution to the achievement of organizational goals. It
therefore, becomes important for him to understand what motivates people. Although
some human behavior is random and consists of emotions and reflexes, most of it is
goal directed in the sense that it is aimed at the satisfaction of some need. (Bagajjo et
al. 2021)

Job is one of the important elements of people’s life. Their living style and
their social lives depend on their jobs. Therefore, it is necessary for every
organization to have satisfied workforce. (Namaziandost 2021)

performance, lower morale, low contribution to the team, less coordination, less
orientation towards organizational objective these could affect the organization
capacity to compete in the highly competitive business environment. (Varma 2017)

negative impact on employee performance and the better job satisfaction and
motivation of employees, the higher the performance of employees and the other
hand, if the provision of job satisfaction and motivation is low, it will lead to

Tourism is one of key drivers in Bhutan’s economy. The purpose of this study
was to assess the level of fulfillment of job motivational attributes for hotel
employees and to identify factors that contribute to hotel employees’ job satisfaction.

recognition, work environment, and employee empowerment that represented the
employees’ fulfillment. It is inferred that factors reward as well as recognition and
work environment significantly influenced the employees’ job satisfaction. (Jigme
Norbu & Prateep Wetprasit 2021)

Employee motivation significantly influences job satisfaction. When

employees are motivated, they tend to be more engaged, productive, and committed to
their work. This positive correlation between motivation and job satisfaction
contributes to a healthier and more effective work environment. Employers should
prioritize strategies that enhance motivation to ultimately boost overall job
satisfaction among their employees. ( Zenebe, Ethiopia 2021)

The excerpts emphasize the intricate relationship between motivation, job

satisfaction, and employee performance. Motivation is seen as a driving force for high
productivity, while job satisfaction is crucial for a satisfied and effective workforce.
Recognizing individual needs and understanding stressors play vital roles in shaping
employee motivation and satisfaction, ultimately influencing organizational success.

Statement of the problem

In contemporary workplaces marked by rapid changes, emerging technologies,

and evolving job structures, there is a noticeable decline in employee morale and
motivation, raising concerns about the overall job satisfaction within organizations.
Many employees feel undervalued and overlooked for their hard work and
achievements. The lack of timely and meaningful recognition diminishes their morale,
dampens motivation, and contributes to a sense of dissatisfaction with their roles.
In the absence of proper acknowledgment, employees may experience a
motivational gap, resulting in decreased enthusiasm and engagement. The intrinsic
drive to excel and contribute to the organization diminishes, impacting overall job
satisfaction. Inadequate recognition not only affects individuals but also influences
team dynamics. A lack of morale and motivation among team members can lead to
reduced collaboration, communication breakdowns, and an overall decline in job
satisfaction across the team. Employees who do not feel recognized are more likely to
explore opportunities elsewhere. This recognition deficit contributes to higher
turnover rates as disheartened employees seek environments where their efforts are
acknowledged and appreciated.
