13. Analyzing the impact of Population Growth in Society: Causes and Effects
on the Environment
It is important to examine how population growth affects society for several
reasons. The increase in per capita income illustrates how the negative
effects of economic activities on the environment are amplified by rapid
population growth. Because of this growth, there is an increase in the
production of waste, such as sewage, pollution, and carbon emissions, which
pollute the air and water and destroy wildlife habitat. In addition to hindering
development, rapid population growth raises the rates of hunger, resource
consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and the extinction of species.
