system (2)

4.3  When the supply voltage does not exceed 50 V

 When the supply uses an underground service connection
 When the roof is made of or covered with nonconductive material
 When the gutter, downpipes and waste pipes are of nonconductive material
 When the gutters and downpipes are attached to a metal roof that is covered
with nonconductive material (5)

4.4 Yes (1)

5.2  Be out of arm's reach from the floor of walking level

 Be out of arm's reach from a structure that is bonded to earth
 Be protected from the weather and splashing, dripping or accumulation of
water
 Not touching a conductive surface (5)

QUESTION 6: VERIFICATION AND CERTIFICATION

6.1  Check that conductors are of the correct rating and current-carrying capacity
for the protective devices and connected load.
 Check that switchgear is switching the phase conductor.
 Check that the connection of conductors and earthing and bonding are
mechanically sound.
 Check that the connection of conductors and earthing and bonding are
electrically continuous.
 Check that the position of the readily accessible earthing terminal for the
earth connection of other services made by installers of such services is
indicated on all distribution boards. (5)

6.2  To ensure that all single-pole switching devices, fuses and circuit breakers
have been connected to the phase conductor
 To ensure that the phase terminals in fixed appliances and in all
single-phase socket outlets have been connected to the phase conductor
 To ensure that the centre contact of each Edison screw lampholder is
connected to the phase conductor
 To ensure that phase rotation and identification are maintained for
three-phase systems on the supply side of the distribution boards (4)

6.3 To ensure that when switching devices are operated, the circuit is interrupted
as intended (1)
[10]

QUESTION 7: VERIFICATION AND CERTIFICATION

Z cond = L √(R² + X²) ÷ (1 000)

= 80 × (√(0,44² + 0,076²))/1 000
= 0,036 Ω

Z total = V ÷ (PSCC × √3)

= 400 ÷ (3 079 × √3)
= 0,075 Ω

Z turns = Z total – Z cond

= 0,075 – 0,036
= 0,039 Ω

Z transformer = (V² ÷ P) × (Z% ÷ 100)

P = (V² ÷ Z trns) × (Z% ÷ 100)
= (400² ÷ 0,039) × (5%÷100)
= 205 128,21 VA OR 205 kVA [10]

QUESTION 8: CALCULATION OF VOLTAGE DROP

8.1 Geyser Vd = mv/a/m × L × A

= 11/1 000 × 30 × 17,39
= 5,739 V

Max Vd = 230 × 5%
= 11,5 V

Pump Max Vd = 11,5 – 5,739

= 5,761 V

Try using 2,5mm² cable

= mv/a/m × L × A
= 18/1 000 × 20 × 13,04
= 4,697 V

Total Vd = 5,739 + 4,697

= 10,435 V

A 2,5 mm² cable is suitable because the voltage drop at the pump does not
exceed the maximum allowed voltage drop. (8)

8.2 In order to determine the correct cable size for the given load without exceeding
the max allowed voltage drop (2)
[10]

QUESTION 9: EARTHING ARRANGEMENTS AND EQUIPOTENTIAL BONDING OF IT

INSTALLATIONS FOR FUNCTIONAL PURPOSES

9.1 Where an earthing busbar is required for functional purposes, the main earthing
terminal of the building can be extended using an earthing busbar so that
information technology installations can be connected to the earthing busbar
by the shortest practical route from any point in the building. Where the
earthing busbar is erected to support the equipotential bonding system of a
significant information technology installation in a building, it may be installed
in a closed ring. (4)

9.2 For large installations, a copper conductor of cross-sectional area of

50 mm² is a good compromise between material cost and impedance.
Where the earthing busbar is used as part of a DC return current path, its
cross-sectional area shall be dimensioned according to the expected DC return
currents. (3)

9.3 May be provided by using the protective conductor of the supply circuit for the
information technology equipmentor by a separate dedicated conductor (1)

9.4 Shall take into account possible fault currents which can flowand the relevant
data shall be obtained from the equipment manufacturer (2)

up to the interruption capacity rating of the SCPD. (2)

10.2  Name of the manufacturer

 Rated operational voltages
 Rated current of the assembly
 IP rating if rated above IP2X
 Rated prospective short-circuit current (5)

10.3  The short-circuit current ratings of components might be affected by their

orientation for example upright or sideways.
 Mounting bolts, clips or clamps can influence the ability of the component
to withstand mechanical stresses imposed by fault current tests. (3)
