In your abstract, cover your whole report. The abstract should contain four main parts:
What was done?
Why was it done?
How was it done?
Page 1 of 9
What are the main results/findings?
In many cases, people would read only the abstract of your report. Thus, the abstract should
be self-contained (the reader should understand it without reading the rest of the report).
The abstract should also be meaningful and informative.
The abstract should be on a page of its own. But it does not need to fill the whole page.

Extra guidelines on report grading: (10 points)........................................................................5
In the introduction, identify the problem and explain how would your project be solving this
problem(s). Define heat transfer and why it is important to analyze it. Continue, with heat
loss, and more specifically with the heat loss happening in buildings and ventilation.
The last paragraph of the introduction should provide a summary of each of the sections to
explain to the reader how the report is structured.
Page3
The introduction should not be very detailed, and should not contain the same sentences or
information as the background research.
!!! If you are using any reference in the background research, you must add it to the list of
references at the end of the report and inside the text.

- Internal walls and the ceiling do not suffer losses
- The classroom area is 58 m2
- The classroom height is 3.2 m
The windows:
- The wall on the right side of the classroom is a compound of 5 identical
windows (L=130cm each, in total 650cm).
- The windows are Single pane with thickness= 8cm and height of 150cm.
- The thermal conductivity of the glass is 0.78 W/mK).
The Ceiling and floor:
For the ceiling and floor are given only the U values.

- Define the heat loss happening from the exterior walls, windows/doors, and
floor, for the specific classroom:
Pf= U A Δt
U: Overall heat transfer coefficient
A: Area

A windows= Hw*Ww= (1.5)(6.5)= 9.75 m2
P windows= (7.36)(9.75)(22)= 1578.72 W

4. Suggest a solution for the problem (20 points)
You should explain why you think the classroom has that amount of heat loss, and suggest a
way to prevent these losses from happening.
- Explain why you are giving this/these solution(s);
- Explain how this/these solution(s) will improve the building's energy
efficiency;
- Complete your suggestion with sketches.
First paragraph:
- A summary of the project;
- An emphasis on the problem-solution;
Second paragraph:
- Future works on the topic.
