The Kind Hairdresser

Joseph was a hairdresser in a small village. He cut and styled all the women’s hair, all the men’s hair and all
the kids’ hair. He did a good job. Everybody liked him. One day, at 8:30 am,
the
Nofirst appointment,
charge today Jenny the florist went into Joseph’s salon. Joseph put
her hair up in a bun. It looked amazing and she posted a photo on facebook.
However, when she went to the cash desk, Joseph refused payment. He said
he was having a community service day. Later that day, Jenny left a
beautiful bouquet of flowers by Joseph’s door.
The next appointment was Jack the butcher. Once again, Joseph did not
accept any money because of community service. Two hours later, Jack took
a big joint of meat to Joseph’s wife. The next appointment was Freddy the
Baker. Same story. No money exchanged hands. Later on, Freddy sent a
delicious cake round to Joseph’s. Many clients and gifts followed.
The last client was Mr Blenkinsop, the rat catcher. Joseph cut his hair
beautifully. He quickly said that because his salon was clean and pest-free, he did not need any gifts! Many
people had a free haircut or hairdo that day and Joseph received many wonderful gifts, but he did not want
anything from Mr Blenkinsop!
