Topic: Types of Soil
Learning Competency: Compare and contrast the characteristics of different types of
soil;

Activity: My Growth in a Week

Instructions: The pupils will plant an already grown plant on the different types of soul
(Clay, Loam, Sand). Each day, the pupils will take a picture of the plants and compare them
side by side. After 1 week, the pupils will take one last picture of the plants and compare
them to each other. The pupils will create a diary containing the pictures of the plants for
every day the experiment went on, their comments, reflection and thoughts. At the very last
page, they will answer this question: What type of soil do you think is the best for plants?
How can you say so? Can you provide evidence? Compare and contrast the characteristics
of the three different types of soil.

The diary will be graded based on the following criteria:

Content – 60%
Aesthetics – 30%
Originality – 10%
