Characteristics of solids, liquids and gases. (Grade 3)

Learning Competency: classify objects and materials as solid, liquid, and gas based on
some observable characteristics;

Activity: Matter Hunt


The class will be divided into two groups. Each group will have three baskets with the
labels ‘’Solid, Liquid, Gas’’ The pupils will be given 5 minutes to explore the classroom and
find different materials. When they find a material, they will put it in the appropriate basket
(solid, liquid or gas). After the 5 minutes is up, which ever group has more materials in
their baskets (that is correct) wins a prize.
