Aristotle was of the view that when the rulers aimed at the good of the community, the states
would be a pure form of state. When the rulers in such a state became selfish, the state would be
called a perverted state. According to Aristotle, if sovereignty resides in one person, it is
Monarchy. Its perverted form is Tyranny. If sovereignty resides in a small minority of the

it is Oligarchy. If the sovereign power resides in a large proportion of the population, it is polity.
Its perverted form is Democracy.

Societal norms, values, and cultural identities can influence political boundaries. These

the protection of minority rights. The separation of powers among different branches of
government, such as the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, establishes institutional
boundaries to prevent the concentration of power and ensure checks and balances. Governments
operate within specific territorial jurisdictions, whether at the local, regional, national, or
international levels. Jurisdictional boundaries determine the extent of governmental authority and
responsibility over various issues and populations. In society, the boundaries of politics and
government interact and intersect, shaping the dynamics of governance and political processes.
While politics sets the broader context for decision-making and power struggles, government
