EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In our time, technology is popular with the masses in all different aspects. These changes are
helpful to humans but some are still not keeping up with these changes. One of them are the visually
impaired people. Entrepreneurs came up with a solution to each of these pre-existing issues, and that
is the innovation of creating a portable machine vision of assistive Philippine bill recognition for the
visually impaired named Makita. The researchers measured all the materials to fit in the case. After
measuring, the color sensor, MP3 Module, Audio Amplifier, Color sensor and charging module to
the microcontroller were connected. For making the case, researchers made a mold out of black big
PVC pipe based on the dimensions of the variables. After constructing, strengthening, and polishing
the case, the battery was also inserted together, making it compact. The robot was then tested. The
researchers conducted a sensor test that resulted to 100%, 100%, 60%, 100%, 100%, and 90% rates
on 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1000 Philippine peso bills. Makita recognized the 20, 50, 200, and 500
Philippine peso bills on all ten trials. With this invention, visually impaired people can now
distinguish the cash for its effectiveness in recognizing colors corresponding to each Philippine
banknote. Moreover, results proved the effectiveness, durability, and convenience of Makita.

MARKET ANALYSIS
Visually impaired people face many challenges in their daily lives, including identifying
different denominations of money. This has led to the creation of a market for money detectors
designed specifically for them. It is important to recognize that this market is significant, as there is a
large number of people who could benefit from this type of product. According to the World Health
Organization, there are approximately 285 million people worldwide who are visually impaired, with
39 million being completely blind. The market analysis indicates a promising future for money
detectors designed specifically for visually impaired individuals. With a large target market and
advancements in technology, manufacturers have an opportunity to develop innovative products that
meet the needs of this underserved community effectively. By focusing on product development and
implementing effective marketing strategies.
TARGET MARKET
People who are blind or have limited vision, regardless of their age, gender, or level of
wealth, are included in the visually impaired target market. As the population ages and more
individuals suffer chronic illnesses like diabetes and macular degeneration, which can cause visual
loss, this market is expanding. People who are blind or visually impaired have a wide range of
requirements and desires, including accessible products and services, assistive technology, and
support services. It is critical to address the individual demands of distinct groups when marketing to
this market, such as age, degree of visual impairment, source of vision impairment, lifestyle, and

TARGET MARKET UNMET NEEDS

It is an upgraded version of the development of algorithms for detecting authenticity and
nominal money in microcontroller-based blindness. Its color sensor functions to read the color of
objects that have been detected and is a component that could identify the color of the object to be an
electrical value.

ESTIMATED MARKET SIZE

The estimated market size of money detectors for the visually impaired is a topic of great
importance in today's society. With an increasing number of individuals suffering from visual
impairments, it is crucial to develop innovative solutions that cater to their needs. As of 2017, per the
Department of Health (DOH), the current number of persons with bilateral low vision in the
Philippines is 2,179,733 of which 43% (937,285) is due to Error of Refraction, 34% (741,109)
cataracts, and the rest is caused by glaucoma and other eye diseases. According to estimates, 332,150
people are bilaterally blind, of which 33%, or roughly 109,609, are due to cataracts, 25%, or 83,037,

The iBill Talking Banknote Identifier: Currency reader is a small device that introduces the
value of a note in one of three ways: voice, tone pattern, or vibration pattern. Insert a note into the
device and press the side button to identify the denomination. The currency reader cannot tell the
difference between genuine and counterfeit banknotes. It is about the size of a key fob and can be
carried in a pocket or purse, clipped to a belt, or attached to a keychain or lanyard. It runs on a single
AAA battery, which typically lasts more than a year. Makita will use a colour sensor that will
recognize the colour of the bill.

Visually Impaired. Money is a great resource that will allow you to manage your life. The exchange
of goods for products is an old custom, and you can't buy something you want if you don't have any
money. It's simple to use money; simply glance at the currency, withdraw the appropriate amount of
cash, and you're done. However, for those who are blind, this may be a difficult task. Identifying
money, particularly paper currency, is one of the most significant issues confronting visually
impaired people. This research focuses on this issue and is based on a machine vision technique
known as object detection. Makita is a device, product, item or machine that is used to improve a
disabled person's functional abilities. The primary goal of a visually impaired assistive device is to
make the user capable, independent, and self-sufficient. People with visual impairments typically
struggle to distinguish between paper currencies due to the approximate similarities in paper texture
and size. As a result, the role of this system is to devise a solution to this problem in order to give
blind people confidence in their financial approach. We developed a device called Makita for
currency recognition to address this issue for blind users.

Currency Identification Device for Visually Impaired People Based on YOLO-v5: A

normal person can easily identify and recognize any banknote, but it is extremely difficult for
a visually impaired or blind person to do so. Currency plays an important role in our daily lives, and
real-time detection is essential. Any commercial transaction necessitates research and analysis.
Detecting banknotes appears to have become a requirement for a security guard person, particularly
for the blind or those with visual impairments There are many visually impaired people. Indian
citizens’ currency notes are nearly the same thickness and size, making identification difficult. to

or highly customer-focused organizations. When clients contact with our business, they are
interacting with actual items or indications.

BRANDING ELEMENTS
In this logo that the company created it represents how our product converts or illustrate the
product’s purpose. It shows the read-to-speech variable that is essential to our target market of
visually impaired. Color palette of the logo consists of white, blue, and black. The color white is
frequently used to depict blindness since it is the color of the sclera, the white component of the eye.
White is typically connected with nothingness or emptiness; hence it can also signify the loss of
vision. Since the sky and the ocean are two items that are frequently connected to emptiness and
infinity, the color blue is frequently used to symbolize visual impairment. It may also symbolize the
challenges visually impaired persons encounter when attempting to navigate their surroundings.
Since black is the hue of darkness, which is what blind people perceive, black is frequently used to
symbolize blindness. It can also represent the power and resilience of the visually impaired
community. These hues, when combined, form a visual depiction of the visually impaired
population, highlighting their potential, the assistance they get, and their tenacity in the face of
adversity. This combination indicates that a person's visual impairment is only one component of
their identity and does not determine their value or potential.

Appendix 2: Market Research Results
Appendix 3: Business Implementation Plan

1. The researchers began by creating a blueprint in TinkerCad. An application that displays

product dimensions and material configurations. To ensure and complete the product design,
the researchers initially drew the design and features of Makita on a sheet of paper. After
ensuring the product's outcome, the design was converted into a digital copy. The design also
incorporated button and port placement.
2. The researchers gathered the materials that were included in the blueprint which were the
Arduino Nano V3.0, TCS3300 Color Sensor Module, LDR (Resistor), 4GB Micro SD Card,
DFP Mini Player, PAM8403 Mini Audio Amplifier Board, TP4056 Lithium Battery Charging
Board Module, acrylic panel, and lithium-ion battery. The materials were bought from
different places. For instance, Arduino Nano V3.0, TC3300 Color Sensor Module, LDR
(Resistor), DFP Mini Player and PAM8403 Mini Audio Amplifier Board was ordered from a
trusted shop through an online shopping application, specifically Shopee. The tactile switch
and lithium-ion battery was then purchased at a near electronic shop in Muzon, San Jose del
Monte, Bulacan. Lastly, the acrylic panel were found in a hardware. Other materials used
were: Markers, tweezers, spray paint, and putty or filler which are all applicable in
constructing the case.

The researchers proceeded to the steps in constructing the product.

1. First, the researchers measured all materials that was used to accurately distinguish if it can fit
the case.
2. After measuring, researchers connected the color sensor, MP3 Module, Audio Amplifier,
Color sensor and charging module to the microcontroller, soldering iron and lead was
necessary for wiring the circuits of the respected materials and into the microcontroller. Note
that there are precautionary measures done. For instance, the researchers wore gloves and
mask so that no harm was inflicted.
3. Next procedure was the construction of the case. For making the case, researchers made a
mold out of black big PVC pipe based on the dimensions of the variables (Arduino Nano
V3, Color Sensor Module, LDR, DFP Mini Player, Mini Audio, charging module, Circuits
and Wires) that were inserted when the casing was done. The researchers used a schematic
diagram for reference in the wiring of the materials.
4. The heat gun was used to melt the big black pipe to make it softer and easily to mold as flat
panel. After melting the pipe, the researchers cut the melted pipe into desired length and
width. The panel also consisted of Arduino Nano V3, Color Sensor Module, LDR, DFP Mini
Player,

Mini Audio and Charging module. PVC pipe was used resulting to a sturdier and stronger
case.
5. When the application of black pipe and super glue was all dried up, a coat of putty was
applied. The putty was used for the finishing touches of the product, which resulted to a
smooth and fine exterior. Note that all these steps in constructing the case was done.
6. After constructing, strengthening, and polishing the case, the battery was also inserted
together, making it compact. The materials then were installed by a strong glue inside the case
to ensure durability and safety even when the product was vigorously dropped.
7. The charging module and Arduino Nano were also connected to the battery. Same
procedure was done which was gluing the diagram at the bottom part of the case where it was
most convenient and accessible to the user.
8. The materials were finally tested to see if it was still working properly and to made sure that
nothing has gone wrong specially for the connections of Color sensors, Arduino and switches
or buttons.
9. For enclosing the product, the researchers have used transparent hard plastic panel and put it
in the top part of the makita with the help of small screws. Then an exact amount of putty was
used to fill in the small gaps in the case.
10. The last method was done by designing the exterior product to make it more appealing and
to carry out a finished smooth look design. The product was decorated simply by spray
painting with the desired color, which are the black and teal green as a symbol color of
Makita.
