Origin
The origin of badminton was traced
towards 3 countries; India, Greece,
And China. But the most popular and
well known origin story came from
India in the year 1873, where the gme
was called poona. Stationed British
military learned the game in India
and brings it back to their
motherland, where it became
popular within the higher class men.
The game's title was altered to
Badminton, only after the Duke of
Beaufort's estate where it was
played.

Federation formed (1934)
The International Badminton
Federation (IBF) was formed, with
nine founding member countries.
The IBF is now known as the
Badminton World Federation (BWF)
and has over 180 member
associations.

 First Badminton
World
Championship (1991)
The first Badminton World
Championships were held in
Copenhagen, Denmark, with 193
players from 31 countries
competing. The championships
have since become an annual
event, with the exception of
Olympic years.
Introduction of
BWF World
Tour (2014)
The BWF World Tour was introduced, replacing
the previous Super Series and Grand Prix
Gold events. The new tour features several
levels of tournaments, with the highest level
being the World Tour Finals.
