1. What is the difference between translation and interpretation? Cite examples to


support your answer.
The difference between interpretation and translation is that translation focuses on written
content while interpretation deals with spoken language in real time. Translation happens over a
period of time with extensive access to external resources, and interpretation which occurs on
the spot during a live scenario. For example, A pharmaceutical company may hire translation
services to translate their marketing collateral into Japanese. However, when a Japanese
speaker dials into an English-speaking call center, they would need an interpreter to discuss
ordering the product.
