Answers:
1.Length = 8m,Breadth = 9m

CBSE Worksheet www.vedantu.com 5

Class 5 Maths Area and Its Boundary

Area = length × breadth = 8m × 9m = 72 m²

Perimeter = 2(length+breadth) = 2(8m + 9m) = 34m

Length=6m Breadth=9m
Area = length × breadth = 6m × 9m = 54 m²
Perimeter = 2(length+breadth) = 2(6m + 9m) = 30m

Length=6m Breadth=9m
Area = length × breadth
105 m² = 15m × breadth
Breadth = 7m
Perimeter= 2(length+breadth) = 2(15m + 7m) = 44 m

Area = length × breadth = 63 m × 6 m = 378 m²

Perimeter = 2(length+breadth) = 2 (63 m + 6 m) = 138 m

Perimeter = 2(length+breadth)
112 m = 2(47m+breadth)
56 m = 47 m+ breadth
Breadth = 9m
Area = length × breadth = 47 m × 9 m = 423 m²

Length Breadth Area Perimeter

8m 9m 72 m² 34 m

CBSE Worksheet www.vedantu.com 6

Class 5 Maths Area and Its Boundary

6m 8m 48 m² 28 m

15 m 7m 105 m² 44 m

63 m 6m 378 m² 138 m

47m 9m 423 m² 112

2.Area of piece A = Length × Breadth

= 6 cm × 5 cm
= 30 cm²
Area of piece B = Length × Breadth
= 11 cm × 3 cm
= 33 cm²
So, piece B has more area.

3.Area = length × breadth

= 14 cm × 20 cm
= 280 cm²

4.(a) Area
(b) Length, Breadth
(c) Side, Side
(d) Perimeter

5.Area of rectangle = length × breadth

= 12 m × 9 m
= 108 m²

CBSE Worksheet www.vedantu.com 7

Class 5 Maths Area and Its Boundary

6.Area of square = (side)²

= (10 cm)²
= 100 cm²

7.Area of rectangle = length × breadth

= 30 cm × 6 cm
= 180 cm²

8.Area of square = (side)²

= (10 cm)²
= 100 cm²
Area of rectangle = length × breadth
= 5 cm × 2cm
= 10 cm²
By these results we can say that the square of side 10 cm has a greater area.

9.Area of square = (side)²

= (12 cm)²
= 144 cm²

10.Perimeter of square = 4 × side

60 = 4 × side
Side = 60/4
Side = 15 cm

11.Area of square room = (side)²

CBSE Worksheet www.vedantu.com 8

Class 5 Maths Area and Its Boundary

= (6 m)²
= 36 m²
Side of carpet = 4 m
Area of square carpet = (4 m)²
= 16 m²
Area of floor space left which is not carpeted = 36m²-16m² = 20 m².

12.Area of wall = length×breadth

= 5 m×4 m
= 20 m²
Area of door = length×breadth
=2m×1m
= 2 m²
Area painted = 20 m²-2m² = 18 m²

13.Area of Carpet = length×breadth

=6m×4m
= 24 m²
Area of room = length×breadth
=5m×3m
= 15 m²
Area of carpet that is not used = 24 m² - 15 m² = 9 m²

14.Area of square = (side)²

= (6 m)²
= 36 m²

CBSE Worksheet www.vedantu.com 9

Class 5 Maths Area and Its Boundary

Area of door = Length × Breadth

= 2 m× 1 m
= 2 m²
Area which should be covered with wallpaper = 36 m²-2m² = 34 m²

15.Area of carpet = Length×Breadth

=7m×5m
= 35 m²

16.Fence length required = Perimeter of the garden

= 2(Length+Breadth)
= 2(6 m+ 9 m)
= 2 × 15 m
= 30 m
Area of garden that dog have to run in = 6 m × 9 m
= 54 m²

17. (a)Perimeter of square = 4 × Side

= 4 × 5m
= 20 m
(b)Perimeter of square = 4 × Side
=4×6m
= 24 m

(b) Perimeter of square = 4 × Side
40 = 4 × Side
Side = 40/4
= 10 m
(c)Perimeter of square = 4 × side
44 = 4 × side
Side = 44/4
= 11 m
(d)Perimeter of square = 4 × Side
20 = 4 × Side
Side = 20/4
=5m

19.Length of fencing required = Perimeter of the rectangular garden

= 2( Length + Breadth)
