(SPEAKulate = Speak + Speculate)

Read the texts and speculate what would happen in the future.
Example:
The Russia-Ukraine war has been a pressing issue that has put people in shock around the world.
This issue hasn’t been resolved yet, and it seems like it’s been getting worse. What do you think
will happen to these two countries, including the countries around the world?

Prediction:
I think more and more residents from both countries, especially Ukraine, will be moving to
neighboring countries because of this ongoing war. From what I have observed and read from the
news, I think more countries will be involved and this war will take a long time to end.

Airlines, hotels, cruises, and other travel and tourism-based sectors are keen on the return of
passenger volume. However, they are aware that much of it will not be the same. Many are
optimistic and realistic about the shift in mindset that the coronavirus has brought in, like focusing
on local travel or sustainable tourism, visiting less crowded destinations, and exploring hidden
gems; overall, it has given us the time to re-think the way we travel. If you could guess, how
different would traveling experiences be in the future?

For many, social media has become their main source of news. Never has it been so easy to
access, publish and share information. Anyone can create one or more social media accounts
within minutes and sometimes anonymously. Social media platforms encourage users to share
information effortlessly through a click of a button, and yet, information often gets distorted along
the way. Humans may not even be controlling the spread of information, programs or bots that
automatically post and share information can also operate social media accounts. How do you think
getting news and information will change in the future?

Chores are routine but necessary tasks, such as washing the dishes or folding laundry. Research
suggests there are benefits to including chores in a child’s routine as early as age 3. Children who
do chores may exhibit higher self-esteem, be more responsible, and be better equipped to deal
with frustration, adversity, and delayed gratification. These skills can lead to greater success in
school, work, and relationships. How do you think chores will affect the development of children?
