1. Has McLuhan’s ideal of a ‘global village’ become reality?

We might argue that some of McLuhan's vision of a "global village" has been fulfilled and some
has not. Because of what we are currently experiencing, many of us use various types of gadgets
to complete a variety of tasks, communicate with others, and constantly use social media to learn
about current events. We are also currently undergoing globalization. However, it hasn't quite
materialized into reality the way that the global village must. And yet, despite the fact that it
should and must be a society that values unity and peace, this did not occur due to the fact that
many of us use media technology for selfish purposes.

2. To what extent does global media serve as guardian of free speech, democracy, and
justice?
Today, a lot of us use social media to express our varied opinions and beliefs on what is
happening or in various issues not only in our country but also in our world. As a result, global
media serves as a guardian of free speech, democracy, and justice. Simply publishing our ideas
on social media allows us to readily express our opinions. However, despite the ease with which
we can voice our thoughts or opinions on a certain subject, many politicians or other powerful
individuals have the ability to readily sway those operating the media platforms. Additionally,
they conceal their wrongdoings by editing and modifying the information in newspapers,
television, and radio.

3. What is the ‘message’ of new social media?

Our daily lives are heavily influenced by social media. We may simply post opinions and
communicate or connect with others by using these social media platforms. It can also provide
news about many topics as quickly as they can. And it's exactly what we need right now because
it may make life easier and more efficient in general. However, we must constantly double-check
the facts and figures we see, read, and watch on social media. The problem with that is that a
large portion of information has been filtered and altered. It's not necessary for us to constantly
believe what we read online. The drawback of it is that it may provide us with inaccurate
information. Think before you click is a good motto to live by.
