Now is a good time to stuff the snout and head. Pay extra attention to the snout,
as simply stuffing the head will make the snout feel hollow. Give the head a
generous amount of stuffing, and continue crocheting.

Tip! Loosening your tension a little after round 19 will give your possum that
chunky-looking body. Be careful not to
loosen too much, you don’t want holes.

Now it is time to stuff the body. Stuff the
body generously, while making sure there aren’t disproportionately lumpy parts, or
parts where the stuffing can be easily seen through the stitches. You may have to
stuff a little more after round 39.

Sewing on the Ears:

For the pink ear, insert your hook 5 stitches away from the mark. Sew along the
numbers using the 4 single crochets on the bottom of the ear. You should only use
4 sc stitches on the head, although it will look like 2 single crochets on the head
have been unused (5th image).

Then, I like to weave the yarn behind the ear, and knot it like the 2 pics below.

Now for the blue ear, insert your hook 2 stitches away from the mark. Sew to the
left of the mark similarly to the way you sewed the pink ear. Use the 4 single
crochets at the bottom of the ear, as well as 4 stitches in the head. When you are
done, weave your yarn behind the ear and knot it.

When you are done sewing the ears, weave the yarn into the body. Do not cut the
yarn before weaving it into the body. This technique hides and secures the tail you
used to sew. Now, your ears should appear to be 2 stitches apart from the marker
you made.

Face
For the nose, take some of the light yellow yarn and sew in from the center of the
snout to the stitches in round 2.

Repeat to the left for the next 3 stitches in round 2, so that you have 4 stitches
(3rd image). Then, sew over them again at least 2 more times, making sure to fill in
empty space between the sewing stitches. When you are done, tie the two ends in

a knot and weave it into the body.

Start the eyes by inserting your needle 5 rounds above the nose. Make a stitch,
and then make another stitch 4 stitches to the left.

Wrap yarn around your stitches with the needle at least 7 times, until the eyes look
like the image below. For the mouth, weave the yarn to the bottom of the snout,

and use images 5 thru 8 to make the mouth loop.

Images 8 thru 13 show how to secure the mouth in place. Take your yarn and wrap
it around the mouth, then weave it through the same stitch it is coming out of.

When you are done making the mouth, weave your yarn to the eye (or wherever
the yarn is coming from) and tie the yarn ends together. Then, weave them
through the body and cut them off.
