Interpersonal Skills and Success in Criminology Internships
Internships play a crucial role in preparing criminology students for future careers in the
field. This study explores the significance of interpersonal skills in determining the success of
criminology interns. Through a mixed-methods approach, data was collected from criminology
interns, supervisors, and academic advisors. Quantitative analysis revealed a strong correlation
between interns' interpersonal skills and their overall performance in internships. Additionally,
qualitative findings highlighted specific interpersonal competencies such as communication,
conflict resolution, and teamwork as essential for navigating challenging situations encountered
in criminology settings. The study underscores the importance of integrating interpersonal skill
development into criminology curricula to better prepare students for successful internships and
future careers in the field.
