so it is not that common for me to see foreigners speak my mother tongue. But I have
seen a few online.
One such person who speaks my mother tongue is the ambassador of the US but I
have never met him in person but I have seen many videos of him congratulating folks
from Uzbekistan on various occasions. And let me tell you, it's quite impressive how well
he speaks Uzbek, especially considering Uzbek is not the most commonly spoken
language in the world.
I mean, not only does he speak Uzbek, but he also does it with a really nice accent.
Hearing someone speak your mother tongue, especially when their native language is
something as widely spoken as English, has turned out to be a delightful experience,
honestly. It's like listening to a friend from your own country. His pronunciation is on
point, and he sounds genuinely comfortable with the language, which adds a personal
touch to his messages.
I have to admit that I'm usually used to hearing foreign ambassadors speak in English or
through interpreters, so this was a pleasant surprise. You can tell that he's making a
genuine effort to connect with the people of Uzbekistan, and that's something that's truly
appreciated.
I understand that he might be reading from a teleprompter, but the fact that he's taking
the time to engage with the local population in their own language is a really great
gesture. It's not every day you see a foreign ambassador make this kind of effort. It
shows a lot of respect and goodwill, and it definitely goes a long way in building positive
relations between the two countries. So kudos to him.
