GREEN INITIATIVE

AUHTOR: INTIA, SEPHANIE AIKA RAMOS

In a bid to foster environmental stewardship and contribute to a sustainable future,

SALVACION NATIONAL HIGHSCHOOL has proudly joined the Department of Education’s

(DepEd) ambitious initiative, ‘’236k Trees: A green initiative.’’ This collaborative effort aims

to plant 236,000 trees across various regions in the Philippines, symbolizing the 236 years

of public education in the country.

As the global community grapples with the adverse effects of climate change, initiatives

like the ‘’236 Trees’’ project emphasize the importance of collective action in mitigating

environmental degradation. With schools serving as vital hubs of education and community

engagement, their involvement in such endeavors amplifies the message of environmental

conservation and sustainable development.

SNHS’s participation in this green initiative signifies its commitment to instilling environmental

consciousness among its students and staffs. By actively engaging in tree planting activities and

promoting environmental education within its curriculum, SNHS not only contributes to reforestation

efforts but also cultivates a culture of environmental responsibility within its community.

‘’ Tree planting engages students in hands-on environmental learning and fosters a sense of
responsibility towards the planet, while also promoting physical activity and teamwork. Overall, it’s a
valuable educational experience that cultivates environmental stewardship and ecological awareness
among students. ‘’ – Ma’am Emmalyn S. Villoso said.
