Community Clean-Up Drive, A Collective Efforts in School

        Clean-up drive in the community is one of the school tasks and collective efforts of
the teachers, pupils and parents to improve the environment alongside the school. It
brings the volunteers to work together in accomplishing their missions and these are
cleaning and improving public areas that have been neglected, vandalized or misused.

          Since it was the inception of the Clean and Green in school, anybody is
welcomed to join to this comprehensive program to achieve its goal which is a full clean
community status. Different broad areas of interest for subsequent consideration were
strictly identified and followed particularly the clean building program.

      The general procedural goals of program were:

 Provide useful and timely data to inform the community about the resources
available on living sustainably and keeping their area clean;
 Integrate the land use, circulation, open space, design elements, energy use and
conservation practices;
 Recognize the need to lead by example and commits to developing school and
community projects that demonstrate the benefits of proven sustainable action at
the cutting edge.
 Particularly in the areas of clean air, the school and community will work together
to design and implement programs to which people contributes and receives
benefits.

        As in all things, there is both more and less that can be done, however, we find the
following list of programs reasonably inclusive, with the potential for attainable results
yielding genuine benefits for the school and community.

Clean-Up Drive Narrative Report

Surigao del Norte National High school had always been on advocate of Ecological SolidWaste
Management Program with proper waste segregation and clean-up projects as itsforefronts.
With this advocacy, the student-members of the Laboratory Detectives Club headed by Mark
Jaybert Pino, the president, conducted the clean-up drive last Monday, June 19, 2017with the
collaboration of other science clubs led by the Integrated Science Club.The clean-up started
exactly 7:30 in the morning as the club members were split intosmaller group and sent to work
in their specified areas. The Laboratory Detectives memberswere assigned to clean-
up the surrounding of the Virgin Mary’s grotto, the stairways and
 pathways leading to the Science building. Members brought with them cleaning materials
suchas wire brushes, brooms, trash bags, and dustpans. Moreover, the club members also
repaintedthe stones designed in the landscape. At 12:00 in afternoon, the activity ended with
impressiveturn-out, a remarkable transformation all brought about by utmost participation of
many clubmembers involved for progress and change of the school community.This activity had
awakened the youth-members of their responsibility to take care andreflects concern of their
environment. It was successful that the members reflected that they haddone something for
the benefits of the school and the community as a whole.

The Young Community Stewards spearheaded the annual Clean-Up Drive on August 1, 2015. With
the theme “Kiskis, Linis, Kinis,” the said activity assembled selected officers of different
organizations sponsored by the UST Junior High School to clean the streets of P. Noval and
Dapitan.

Student Leaders were assigned to bring their own cleaning materials such as dust pan, soap, pail,
trash bags, broomsticks, scraper, rags, and gloves. “It is the main objective of the Clean-Up Drive to
promote cleanliness and healthful environment around the university for all Thomasians as well as
other people,” said YCS President Ralph Joshua Araño. The Clean-Up Drive is held annually to
raise awareness among students to dedicate themselves to community services for the benefit of the
society. This event is also the perfect opportunity for its participants to realize how a clean
environment would contribute a better change to its surroundings.
