PROGRAM
Brgy.Eden is one of the farthest barangays from the town proper. It will take about 45
minutes to 1 hour to arrive in their place. With the objective to help the malnourished kids
as well as their parents, they implemented the Hapag-Asa Feeding Program. That was made
possible through the combined efforts of the coordinator, barangay officials, health
workers, parents, parish and diocese. The barangay also provided the materials as well as
the feeding site which is the Barangay Health Station. There were 17 partner kids in this
barangay.
There is a schedule for cooking of the parents and health workers but some of the parents
fail to help because they go to different places to work for others like harvesting, planting
corns/rice and others in order to generate money. They go to work before the sun rises and
goes home after sunsets in such cases, the Health Workers and other parents who are
available are the ones who are preparing the foods. When other kids fail to go to the
feeding site due to different reasons, the Brgy.Tanods deliver the foods to them. The
coordinators also play an active role in this program, they are the ones who motivate and
educate the volunteers and the beneficiaries.
After this 120-day feeding Program, the beneficiaries became healthier, all of them gained
weight and grew taller and they became more active. On the part the parents, they said that
they’ve learned many things through this program especially on how to be effective
parents. They also came into a realization that they could give service to others even in
simple ways.

Brgy. District 4 is one of those barangays in the town proper of San Manuel,
Isabela. They have a total population of 1400 and the people in this place don’t have the
same economic status in life. They opened the Hapag-Asa Feeding Program in their
community in order to help the malnourished kids in their place.
The parents and the Barangay Health Workers complied to their schedules in
preparing the foods for the kids. The cooking materials and utensils that were used were
provided by the barangay. Some of them live in the farm, from Sitios(inner barangay) or
from the puroks that are far from the feeding site yet they still bring their kids on the
feeding site and to prevent such situation, the coordinator educates the parents about the
importance of this feeding to their kids.
The parents and health workers uses their creativity in preparing foods so that the
kids would love to eat them. The foods they used to prepare were Arozcaldo, Ginisanggulay,
Ginataan, Tinola, Sinigang, Fried Chicken, Pinakbet and others. Sometimes, they are
separating the other ingredients of Manna Pack from the rice and they will combine it to
the dishes they are preparing like Sopas, Pancit, Bola-Bola, Spaghetti, Lumpia and others.
They also used the separated rice to make champorado, ginataangmonggo or rice itself.
Since Hapag-Asa Feeding Program focuses not only on the growth and development
of the child but also on the betterment of their families as a whole, the parents actively
participated in the Parent’s formation with the topics “Me as a Person’’, and ‘’Me as a
Parent”. According to the parents’ testimonies, this program really helped them how to
become a better parents to their children, better wife to their husband, and better
members of the community, in effect, their children became better as well. Regarding the
development of the kids, 100% of them increased in weight and height. They become more
