 Shri. D.D. Wadikar, obtained B.Tech. & M.Tech.

degrees from College of Food Technology,


VNMKV, Parbhani-Maharashtra and further PhD in Food scince from University of Mysore,
Mysore.
 He joined DRDO in December 2001 as Scientist- ‘B’ and presently working as Scientist- ‘F’ &
Head of Grain Science & Technology Division at Defence Food Research Laboratory (DRDO-
DFRL), Mysore.
 He is recipient of AFSTi Young Scientist Award -2012 and DRDO-Laboratory Scientist of the
year award -2017, and Prof.GS Bains Award-2020 in addition to several other awards such as
Technology Group Award, Best Teacher Award etc.
 His area of expertise is Food Technologies pertaining to grains including millets, oilseeds and
spices. Presently working on Microwave and IR technologies for food processing.
 He has been honoured with DRDO Technology Day Oration Award -2023 for the work on
‘Technological and Nutritional aspects of Millets’
 He has got 65 research publications and 7 patents to his credit. He has transferred 32+
product technologies to different industries.

 He has served as Editor in scientific journal such as Journal of Food Science & Technology;
Springer Publications and Indian Journal of Nutrition, Open-science publications.
 He has worked as Member FSSAI-Scientific Panel on Spices and Culinary Herbs, as well as
Panel on Fruits, Vegetables and products thereof and presently working as memebr in BIS
committee FAD-8 and 13.
 He is recognized guide for PhD in food science/technology under Bharathiar University,
Coimbatore and University of Mysore, Mysore; He has guided several MSc/MTech students
for their dissertation work. Presently guiding 5 students for their PhD.
 He has served as National Secretary for Association of Food Scientist &
Technologist (India) AFSTI, Mysore (2019-20) and contributed in several committees of AFSTi
and its conferences in several capacities.
