NAME: _____________________________________________ CLASS: _________________ DATE: ____________________

When do we use a PASSIVE voice?
When we want to emphasize on the RECEIVER of an action.
When the DOER of an action is NOT KNOWN/NECESSARY to mention.

How do we create (change an ACTIVE voice into) a PASSIVE voice?

Step 1: What is the tense? (present/past/future?)
Step 2: Object → Subject
Study this example with a Simple Present.

ACTIVE voice: The fishermen find thousands of dead fish every day. → This RECEIVER (OBJECT) will be
(DOER/subject) (RECEIVER/object) the new SUBJECT.

PASSIVE voice: Thousands of dead fish are found (by the fishermen) every day.
