On the one hand, there are some benefits of online shopping. Firstly,
Shopping online is more convenient than traditional shopping. Instead of
travelling to a brick and mortar store, customers can simply browse
different shopping sites and purchase items from the comfort of their
own homes or workplace. This helps them save time and energy which
could be spent on other helpful activities. Secondly, online products are
often sold at cheaper prices compared to in-store ones. To attract
customers to shop online, e-tailers and marketers offer discounts to
customers. Thirdly, purchasers would have access to larger inventory
and can compare prices, features and reviews of each option across
different platforms, which enables them to make more informed
purchasing decisions .
On the other hand, online shopping can be negative in several ways. The
first drawback is that customers cannot try products before making a
purchase. Furthermore, products sold online are often less reliable, and
the product that people finally get delivered to their house might have a
poorer quality than expected. Secondly, consumers may abandon online
shopping because of delays in delivery. A lack of proper inventory
management may results in delays in shipment. As a result, delivery of
products to buyer’s doorstep may take more time than scheduled, which
frustrates customers and prevents them from shopping online again.
Finally, because online shopping is easier and cheaper, people tend to
buy too much, which would lead to a large waste of money.
