An internship means that you work for a company and acquire the skills necessary for the job

on the spot.

However, an apprenticeship does not mean you are working full-time. You often divide your
time between work and classes at a further training college or training centre. Of course, it also
depends on what kind of work you will be doing.

One of the great advantages of an internship is that you get first-hand experience and learn
the theory.

Companies give students assignments to demonstrate what they've learned and how they're
improving their skills. This is by no means a free ride, and companies need the students' work to be
good enough to be able to sell it. But at the same time, they can show what they can do; so if they
move on and work elsewhere, they have a portfolio of work to show their new employer. It's a win-
win situation and of course the student gets paid.

many places offer apprenticeships. Many employers want young, enthusiastic people who
can stay with them for a long time. Not that college isn't just as valuable; apprenticeships are just
another way to get a job.
