Problem Situation:

Having a clean, safe and healthy environment has always been the battle cry
among schools. Some of them are currently experiencing high volume of waste due
to improper waste disposal and segregation.
One of the best possible ways to manage our waste is not to produce it in the
first place. Hence, any means of preventive measure is better than curative stage.
With the diversity of waste we have inside our school, it’s almost impossible for us not
to produce one, thus, in contrast, we largely produced a high volume of waste every
day. Looking at this situation makes us really wonder what might be the quickest
possible solution to answer this problem. Is there really an answer? Are we really
addressing the real problem? Can the production of waste be eradicated in our school
or somehow lessen?
Study shows that some schools manage to lessen their waste production
through proper implementation of waste segregation. Through collaborative effort,
they have handled their problem on waste.
Part of this effort is the proper utilization of recyclable materials. This mantra
enables each student to create something valuable out scrap materials. With this
movement, it paves away the importance of being responsible and accountable on our
own waste.
Let us always be reminded that this is an avenue for us to reflect that at any
means, if we are the cause, we can also be the answer. Now is the time for us to do
something to create greener, healthier and safer surroundings in our school.
