Name: Jo Magdalene L. Romero

NSTP TASK: Solid Waste Management (action plan)

Title: Cutting Waste, Boosting Cool: My Drive for Reusables in School

Introduction
As a student committed to environmental sustainability, I embarked on a campaign to promote the use
of reusable items within our school community. Recognizing the environmental impact of single-use items, I
aimed to inspire a positive shift towards more sustainable practices.

Objective
The primary goal was to encourage fellow students to adopt reusable alternatives for everyday items,
such as water bottles, lunch containers, and utensils, thereby reducing our collective contribution to waste.

Methods
1. Awareness Initiatives
- Conducted informative sessions during school assemblies to highlight the environmental consequences of
single-use items.
- Created visually appealing posters and distributed pamphlets to illustrate the benefits of using reusable
items.

2. Peer-to-Peer Engagement
- Initiated discussions within classrooms about the importance of sustainable practices.
- Encouraged open conversations to address concerns and share ideas on adopting reusable items.

3. Collaboration with Local Businesses

- Reached out to local businesses to establish partnerships, securing discounts for students using reusable
items.
- Promoted these partnerships through school announcements and social media platforms.

4. Customizable Reusable Campaign

- Facilitated a campaign where students could personalize their reusable items, fostering a sense of
individuality and ownership.
- Showcased creatively designed reusable items to inspire others to make the switch.

Risk Assessment
1. Budget Concerns
- Running out of money for the project.

2. Time Management
- Struggling to complete tasks within the given time.

3. Dealing with Change

- Difficulty adapting to unexpected changes.

4. Resource Constraints
- Not having enough resources (materials, people, etc.).

5. Communication Breakdown
- Misunderstandings due to poor communication.

By being aware of these potential risks and taking simple steps to address them, students can navigate
their projects more effectively and increase the chances of success.

Outcomes
1. Positive Feedback:
- Received positive feedback from both students and teachers, expressing appreciation for the initiative and
its positive impact.

2. Quantifiable Impact:
- Conducted surveys to quantify the reduction in single-use items, providing tangible evidence of the
campaign’s success.
Challenges
While the campaign was largely successful, some challenges included initial resistance to change and
the need for ongoing reinforcement of sustainable habits.

Conclusion
In conclusion, the Reusable Promotion campaign entitled Cutting Waste, Boosting Cool: My Drive for
Reusables in School demonstrated the power of collective action in fostering positive environmental change
within our school community. The increased adoption of reusable items reflects a growing awareness and
commitment to sustainability among students. Moving forward, I am optimistic about the potential for sustained
impact and further improvements in our ecological footprint.
