Introduction

Lettuce is a leafy green vegetable that is a popular choice for salads and
sandwiches .It is known for its Crip texture and refreshing taste , making it a
staple in many cuisines around the world .Lettuce comes in a variety of types
including iceberg, Romaine and arugula each with its own unique flavor and
nutritional profile .Whether you enjoy it as a base for your favorite topping or
as a crunchy addition to your meal .
Problem statement

Fertilizer can be any natural or artificial substance containing the chemical


elements that improve growth and productiveness of plants.

Over the years, farmers have had defaces in deciding which type of fertilizer
(organic or inorganic) is best suited and most effected for their crops in order to get
high product.
Aim

 To determine the effects of organic fertilizer VS inorganic fertilizer.


 To determine if batch one D (organic fertilizer) or both (2) (inorganic
fertilizer).
 Will gain higher income
Methodology
Experimental Design

(Summary of the design and set up of the experiment.)

- A plot of land was selected in the school compound (10th August, 2023).
- The land was cleared (10th August, 2023).
- The land was tilled manually with a fork (11th August 2023).
- Four (4) ridges were created (11th August, 2023).
- Beds were soaked and transplanting was done.
- 12 lettuces were transplanted per bed (14th August, 2023).
- Two (2) beds were allocated per treatment.
- Application of the different types of fertilizer was given every at 7 days’
intervals.
- Observations were made daily and plans height were measured weekly.
- At the end of four (4) weeks harvesting was done and the lettuces were sold
(4th September, 2021).

Large Garden fork this done by plunging the fork into the soil and by placing one
foot on the shoulder, pushing downwards.

Cutlass –use to weed the bed

Shovel –are used for digging holes to plant crops

Wheel Barrow –used to transport pen – manure

Hand fork – it used to crush soil clods on seed bed

Watering can – the watering can be used to sprinkle water oversee beds

Measuring tape–used to taking measuring detailed measurement on the plot

Garden line – are very useful in drain construction and for planting in straight rows

Seed box – are usually filled with potting soil which tiny seed need for proper
germination.

Knapsack Sprayer – is pump increases the pressure on the liquid when the handle
is operated are used on larger plot with numerous plant .

Ruler –use to measure a put the seedlings straight

Row marker – are used on seed beds they helped make drilled which have the
same depth and are evenly spaced .

Bucket –are often used for holding and carrying water.

Lettuces seedling- use to transplant to the soil

Organic Manure – mold up the plant

Clear Plastic -improves the nutritional quality
