Jaka Tarub

A long time ago, there lived a widow in a village. She had a son named Jaka Tarub.
Jaka Tarub was a very strong and handsome young man who liked hunting. Every day, Jaka
Tarub went to the forest to collect some woods and hunt for animals.
Once Jaka Tarub heard a commotion near the river. He came closer and saw seven
seraphs bathing. Seizing his chance, he secretly took one of their shawls from a nearby
rock, and hid while they Chatted.
Meanwhile, the youngest and most beautiful of the seraph, looked confused. She
couldn't find her shawl after they finished bathing and getting dressed.

Nawang Wulan asked herself “Where is my Shawl?"

"I can't find my shawl, can you help me look for it please?" nawang wulan asked to her

friends

"Nawang Wulan, it's getting late, and we must head back. I'm sorry." Said one of the

seraph.

"Please, just a little longer,"

“I can't be stranded here, I need your help" Nawang Wulan pleaded.

However, despite her plea, her companions Hesitantly left her at the river. Nawang Wulan
was on the verge of tears. Suddenly, Jaka Tarub emerged out of hiding and approached
her with friendly smiled.

Nawang Wulan went to him, "I've lost my shawl, Can you help me find it?"

Jaka Tarub kindly nodded and said, "Don't worry; I'll assist you with your search. But it's

getting late, and you shouldn't be here by yourself. Why don't you stay at my place for the

night? we can look for you shawl tomorrow”

Nawang Wulan was grateful for his offer and said, "Okay, I guess."

As time passed by, Nawang Wulan's shawl remained lost, but a beautiful love story
unfolded between her and Jaka Tarub. Day by day, their love grew stronger, and eventually
it resulted in marriage. Nawang Wulan proved to be wonderful wife, wholeheartedly caring
for Jaka Tarub and their home. Not so long after their marriage, Nawang Wulan gave birth
to a baby girl, whom they named Nawangsih.
Other than that, there are any wonderful things that happened. For example, their
never ending rice supply, Each time Nawang Wulan cooked rice, the pot magically filled
up. However, she had one condition: Jaka Tarub must never peek inside the pot during the
cooking process. But at that time, Jaka Tarub was compelled by curiosity. Then, He
peeked inside the pot and found out about her secret – she had used just one grain of rice to
fill the entire pot, explaining their never-ending rice supply. This also meant that she had
utilized her magical powers to help with their house work. But, As a result, her abilities
faded and their rice supply began to dwindle. Nawang Wulan was now just an ordinary
human.
As their rice supply ran low, Nawang Wulan spotted her lost shawl hidden amongst
the grains, realizing Jaka tarub had taken it.

She confronted him "You are the one who took my shall?" she said, her trust betrayed.

"I'm so sorry, Nawang. My curiosity led me astray," Jaka said, with a regretful tone.

"You know what? That's it, I have to return to heaven; I can't stay as an ordinary human."

"Wait, Please, don't leave, I love you, I'll do anything," begged Jaka Tarub.

But Nawang Wulan stood firm in her choice. Before ascending she asked him to build
a hut outside their house for their daughter, Nawangsih, but never peek inside when Nawang
Wulan is there. Jaka Tarub agree to her request with a heavy heart, and from then on, he
faithfully took Nawangsih to the hut every night untill she grew up. From the sky, Nawang
Wulan kept an eye on her family, providing help when they needed it and assuring that her
love and care were always with them.
