20. Find the thickness for a tube of internal diameter 100 mm subjected to an internal pressure

205 kN/mm2 and µ = 0.29. Neglect longitudinal strain.
21. A solid circular shaft is subjected to a bending moment of 3000 N-m and a torque of 10000 N-m.
The shaft is made of 45 C 8 steel having ultimate tensile stress of 700 MPa and a ultimate shear
stress of 500 MPa. Assuming a factor of safety as 6, determine the diameter of the shaft.

1. Explain Klein’s construction for velocity and acceleration analysis of slider crank mechanism.
2. The configuration of a wrapping machine is given in Fig. Determine the velocity of the point P on
the bell-crank lever DCP if the crank OA rotates at 80 rad/s. Use I-Centre method
3. Fig.3 shows a slider moving outwards on a rod with a velocity of 4 m/s when its distance from
the point O is 1.5 m. At this instant, the velocity of the slider is increasing at the rate of 10 m/s2.
The rod has an angular velocity of 6 rad/s counter clockwise about O and angular acceleration of
20 rad/s2 clockwise. Determine the absolute acceleration of the slider
13. In Fig. 3 the angular velocity of the crank OA is 600 rpm. Determine the linear velocity of the slider D and
the angular velocity of the link BD, when the crank is inclined at an angle of 75° to the vertical. The
dimensions of various links are: OA = 28 mm; AB = 44 mm; BC= 49 mm; and BD = 46 mm. The center
distance between the centers of rotation O and C is 65 mm. The path of travel of the slider is 11 mm
below the fixed-point C. The slider moves along a horizontal path and OC is vertical.
