The Child and Adolescent Learners and Learning Principles

Reflections

By Von Gabriel Faeldan

Module 1

Directions: Write 3 most important things that you have learned from this module. Limit your
ideas to 150 words only.

From the topic about human development, I realized that development is needed for progress
and that all things must undergo to this certain point and that makes everything smooth and
working also that the intricacies involved in the process are an integral part of having that
identity and specifically in terms of learning and holistic formation of an individual’s character
and personality as well as the aspects of self like spiritual, physical, emotional and social needs
and goals

Module 2

Direction: Write your reflection about the topic in 150 words.

From the topic about the stages of development and developmental tasks, I realized that
Developmental task are tasks that arises at or about a certain period in life, unsuccessful
achievement of which leads to inability to perform tasks associated with the next period or
stage in life. To which is an important indicator of holistic growth in a monitored sense as to
develop an approach to understand an individual’s capacity and ability how he/she will interact
and place themselves in this world and society development tasks are also clues as to where and
what a person goes through in a broader sense of being in this life

Module 3

Direction: Write your reflection about the topic in 150 words.

From the topic about issues on human development, I realized that…

When we see topics and arguments about growth and development we often stumble at people
who believe in evolution and the other believes like clay we are being moulded by our great
Designer the thing about issues on human development is that this sheds light to the
circumstances that our nature and biology sets us in whether it be on an evolutionary
perspective or intelligent design and adaptability as our brain in its intricacies that helps us
comprehend the diverse and vastness of the possibilities that are environment may press to us.
Focusing on the arguments that this issues talks about it is always set in nature vs nurture
situation concerns to early development as predictable as it can be the shifts and influences
caused by other individuals tend to overshadow nature as the basis of development as it
pertains to the human growth instinct unlike being moulded by civilization or by the said
individuals especially God

Module 4

Direction: Write your reflection about the topic in 150 words.

From the topic about learner-centered principles, I realized that Learner based principles are
guidelines of learning. They provide a research-based and conceptual foundation for how
people will learn and the approaches need to match these demands. Learner based principles
add insight into what makes people learn most effectively. These learner based principles should
consistently guide all teachers in Elementary education in their instructional and other decisions
In summary, learner-centered education helps the students develop skills that will better
equipped them for their professional careers. Teachers can be trained in this approach, so they
can apply the principles and provide their students with a better learning experience for both
the student and the teacher

Module 5

Direction: Write your reflection about the topic in 150 words.

• From the topic about Freud’s Psychoanalytic Theory, I realized that…as a person grows
personality is also developed and I realized that unconscious its instincts or sexual urges are
awakened to a certain extent. Consciousness is a state that is only available to us; living beings I
mean unconsciousness is also available but it can only trigger in some situations. And sub
conscious state are sometimes called adrenaline rush. Also a well-adjusted person is one who
has strong ego, who can help satisfy the needs of the id without going against the superego
while maintain the person’s sense of what is logical, practical and real. The ability of a learner to
be well-adjusted is largely influenced by how the learner was brought up. His experiences about
his parents met his needs, the extent to which he was allowed to do the things he wanted to do,
and also how he was taught about right and wrong. Personality of an individual is formed early
during the childhood years.

Module 6

From the topic about Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory, I realized that…

As a person grows it develops a set of psychological development; and as their age

progresses they first learn on how to trust one another and after they are done with that they
will learn to focus on their personality development rather than their physical conditions and as
a child grows they will start to feel independent and do things they are confident to do. And as
their age progresses teachers will begin to have an important role to a child’s life as they begin
to teach children basic things they need to know. Then, the most important factor of child’s life
is the transition of their adolescence to adulthood the child will begin to plan for their future
spouses, houses, career, etc. And if they are done with that they will begin to work as
productive members of society and they will begin to have their legacy to left behind in this
world before they pass away and as they grow old, they begin to regret the things that he/she
could’ve gone wrong.

Module 7

Directions: Write 3 most important things that you have learned from this module. Limit your
ideas to 150 words only.
From the topic about classical and operant conditioning, I realized that. . . reward and
punishment merit are sometimes not necessary to train a child’s behavior and operational
conditioning happens a lot during work hours and office times but a classical conditioning can
often find at homes because of recorded stimuli. Reward merit can often lead to positive
responses due to accomplishments and punishment merits can often lead to negative responses
due to fault-finding and individualism. While conditional responses are sometimes a mixture of
reward and punishment merit because it is commonly used to train dogs on their obedience and
loyalty. Oh and I almost forgot that negative responses to one’s positive work can often lead to
deration of one’s self confidence and the only way to counter this is to respond positively no
matter what the situation is. And phobia is sometimes triggered by classical stimulus to the
human brain and it often trigger automatically due to sub-conscious state of the human brain.

So to Conclude:

1. Reward and re-enforcement is effective for discipline

2. Phobias can be overcome by conditioning and training
3. Development of character must be always based on an ethical and moral standard.

Module 8
Direction: Write your reflection about the topic in 150 words.

From the topic about Piaget’s Stages of Cognitive Development, I realized that…

A child’s cognitive abilities can evolve during its growth but its range of recognition often starts in itself
and extends to a certain range or capabilities. It starts as a set of actions such as sucking, grasping, and
such things, etc. and it will evolve to a longer range of recognition such as reaching for things that are
out of his reach. Then the child starts to reason out his recognizing abilities to a certain extent. Then
the transition from adolescence to adulthood I the most important part of the human growth because
it is the foundations of your cognitive abilities because if it is broken you cannot find your fundamentals
of cognitive abilities and such. Also I almost forgot to say that steady progress of cognition is also
important because you cannot rush reasoning abilities

Module 9
Direction: Write your reflection about the topic in 150 words

From the topic about theory of moral development, I realized that…

That there some issues in moral development so far I learned that the development of children’s
morality and core beliefs can sometimes be changed or influenced by sets of rules, fear of punishment,
or sometimes upholding worldviews on laws and legal matters, if it cause benefits, and lastly to make a
statement to other people about themselves and what they hold on to. And their decisions can
sometimes be changed by their own standard of morality if they neglect or go counterculture as one
might do and or just act immaturely or insensitively. Though the standards and social norms may be
reinforced to them or taught the dignity of freewill and the right to think must not be set aside as a
human right

Module 10
From the topic about learner-centered principles, I realized that…

Children can learn by themselves after they have observed an adult do the same as they were being
taught to and then imitate it afterwards. And sometimes culture can be an influence to children’s
learning principle, for example children in SEA are more focused on early fast-paced education rather
than letting the child learn something by playing or letting them study by themselves as a result we
often have low maintenance on social and emotional settings like how to deal with rejection and
depression. And if a child is talking to themselves when he/she is playing alone that is a good thing
because the child is using his/her imagination to its finest and purest
Module 11
From the topic about Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Theory, I realized that…

A child is inherently a sensitive being especially in a very young age and a child needs is a nice, safe and
warm environment for a child to grow on and develop. And especially the important factor that affects
a child’s growth is Chronosystem because time is the most important factor in all aspects of a human
development; and a child’s Microsystem must be fully developed because relationships to self can be a
tool for an effective growth. And the thing that I learned was the role of teachers, educators, and
sometimes parents are; to give advice (good advices I mean who doesn’t give good advices), to guide
them to a better path, to motivate them when they’re feeling down, challenge them when they’re
feeling brash, to discipline them when they’re rebelling, and so on and forth.
Module 12
Directions: Write your reflection about the topic in 100 words.

Have it on a one whole sheet of paper.

From the topic about Gender Schema Theory, I realized that… Gender schema theory is somewhat
stereotypical and is often used in some parts of the world. Cultural gender schema theory is dangerous
when a child is used to that culture because the child will not often respect other women’s opinions,
ideologies, and even its existence itself. And the parents (sometimes teachers) are to teach children the
importance of sexes (in other words gender) to a culture especially in a cultured environment for
modern society implements gender equality law or resolutions that conforms with the demands of this
modern society because democratically we consider the rights of every individual and seemingly we are
seeing gradual adjustments that will give lasting effects to our tradition and cultural norms

Module 13
Directions: Write 3 most important things that you have learned from this module. Limit your ideas to
150 words only.

From the topic about cognitive development of the intermediate schoolers, I realized that…

Multiple-intelligence differs from person to person and there is no such thing as same type of
intelligence for each person. And it focuses on children rather than all learners, development rather
than learning per se, so it does not address learning of information rather than specific behavior, it
proposes discrete stages of development that is marked by qualitative differences rather than a gradual
increase in number and complexity of behaviors’, concepts, ideas, etc. And lastly children constructs
and understanding in the world around them and experience discrepancies between in what they
already know rather and what they discover in their environment rather than what they hear from
their parents, teachers, and stuff.
Module 14
Directions: Write 3 most important things that you have learned from this module. Limit your ideas to
150 words only.

From the topic about cognitive development of the intermediate schoolers, I realized that…
First thing is that considering that there are kinds of individuals with varying talents and experiences
that help them progress as they grow old and the overall development in social and cognitive aspects
makes them better contributors to society.
Second is that there are challenges to cognitive development of these intermediate schoolers as they
can sometimes lack to basic aspects yet they can excel to the harder tasks so with proper guidance
these individuals will be much more effective and relatable to the sense that they must progress and
learn more.
And in conclusion the holistic formation of individuals or these schoolers are always met with close
consideration and proper measures as for me some can be inherently smart but still lacking something
due to parenting, guidance or mental disorders and some cases are mostly reliant on the learning
environment

Module 15
Directions: Write 3 most important things that you have learned from this module. Limit your ideas to
150 words only.

From the topic about cognitive development of the Physical Development, I realized that…
The ages from 9-12 are active in shaping their physical and social aspects as they often engage in
activities that require their body to move and their mouths to say and communicate with other
children as to the other things like exploration the cognitive and behavioral aspects of development is
in motion because by the chances and the curiosity they have about their bodies they tend to ask and
seek things for themselves that is why proper guidance is needed for them and as matter of fact good
physical development indicates good sense of fortitude and mental stability as this will help them cope
up with challenges that they would face, the other thing that I have learned is the difference of growth
rate between boys and girls in terms of physical development and for the record that ages from 9-12
these guys are getting curious about other’s sex and their own gender as well as this age is where
puberty starts to kick in and secondary characteristics becomes more evident as they age and develop

Module 17
Directions: Write 3 most important things that you have learned from this module. Limit your ideas to
150 words only. Write it on a separate sheet of paper.

From the topic about physical, cognitive, and social development of the intermediate schoolers, I
realized that… Intermediate learners must be imaginative and wild because that is a norm for them.
Never train your child to be alone because that will also train his mind to mature in early age and you
might think that is healthy but it’s not it’s definitely not. Also, a child needs to have an active and
kicking imagination because that is their lifeline during their play times.
